This fabulous Loch Ness bolthole, in the Highlands, sleeps four guests and two hounds. Get out on the water, with your trusty companions by your side, and let them help you sniff out Nessie or take a tranquil walk high above the loch at Meall Fuar-mhonaidh (5 miles away). Alternatively, head north to explore the cosmopolitan city of Inverness (18.5 miles away) and its surrounding sandy beaches.

The stylish former coach house has crisp white walls and chic decor. The property has grand high ceilings and an elegant spiral staircase leading to the mezzanine balcony over the lounge/kitchen/diner – the perfect place to relax with the morning papers. After a day of exploring the Highlands, return to this cosy property and sink into the sumptuous leather sofa whilst the woofers doze in front of the roaring wood burner. Sliding doors open directly onto the patio, where you’ll find outdoor furniture and delightful views over the stream, meaning Rover and Fido can happily amble in and out.

Experienced walkers and adventurous hounds will love Meall Fuar-mhonaidh. The track to the peak is quite rough, but you’ll be rewarded with the most spectacular views of Loch Ness and, on a clear day, towards Ben Nevis and Fort William. The circular route encompasses the pebble beach, as well as a shady woodland stretch and there’s a fabulous woof-friendly pub at the end (always a bonus!). For a change of pace, journey to Inverness. Packed with historic sites and some awesome independent shops, there’s plenty to explore. However, if you want to please the pups, head to Ness Islands. The beautiful collection of islands, connected by Victorian suspension bridges, is a glorious place for an afternoon dog walk after a morning of sightseeing.

The Coach House is an amazing comfortable place to stay at whilst exploring Loch Ness. It is so peaceful, surrounded by woods and with its own private waterfall and stream at the bottom of the garden. Red squirrels visit daily. The underfloor heating is fantastic, the amenities are wonderful and have everything you need. There is also a little portRead moreable BBQ. There is a bed up on the mezzanine level but no blinds or curtains over the windows so you need an eye mask if wanting to sleep up here. Hide
