Escape to solitude with this charming 1850s cottage, idyllically positioned up a short single-track lane for ultimate privacy. This quaint property sleeps four and a dog, and is the ideal family base for discovering the gorgeous north-west.

Exposed beams and tiles are paired with neutral decor, and the traditional aesthetic is a constant reminder that you’re on a countryside break, while the exposed flooring in the kitchen and living area means no worrying about messy paws! Relax into the comfortable sofas and watch the wood burner flickering away whilst catching up on your favourite show on the TV or sitting down to a good book, no doubt with a furry friend tightly curled up next to you. The functional kitchen adopts the same natural wooden themes and is well-equipped for feeding the entire family. A dining table has space for four to sit down to an evening meal, while your four-legged friend sniffs for crumbs. Upstairs, a roomy master bedroom boasts a double bed and a comfy armchair while in the rafters, the twin bedroom has restricted head height, perfect for your little ones. To the rear, a private garden is enclosed in bright green hedges so you can sit and enjoy the summer evenings whilst your pup has free reign of the garden.

Half a mile away, the village of Coniston sits under the shadow of the Old Man of Coniston, a legendary Lake District fell with many walking routes guaranteed to offer plenty of fetching fun for your four-legged pal. The property is 14.5 miles from Lake Windermere, a must-see for every Lake District holiday. Just 4 miles away is the glorious beauty spot of Tarn Hows where you can walk through thick woodlands, where plenty of sticks are waiting to be thrown, and enjoy views towards Wetherlam, the Helvellyn range and the Langdale Pikes.

Overall we had a great stay at the cottage. I'd read all the reviews so was well prepared for the steep steps inside, but not so aware about the steep steps outside to the garden which I unfortunately did take a tumble down when they were slippery and wet, so do be careful! The cottage itself was perfectly fine for us two adults and two dogs and grRead moreeat location. We ate in most evenings and had everything we needed to cook with. Master bed comfy and spacious. Communication good with owners. Hide

Steep stairs to 1st floor. Door at base of stairs does not close properly Broken steps up into the grassed area of the garden Neighbouring family who live there are very friendly - but privacy is an issue as they can see right into the cottage Should be clearer that it is not a secure garden for small dogs.

A lovely little cottage perched up on the hillside about a mile outside the town. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Parking was adequate for one small car immediately behind the cottage.

A spotlessly clean, cosy cottage. The stairs are steep but not unmanageable with care. Very comfortable beds and excellent heating. A pleasant off road path into Coniston just outside the cottage.

This cottage is lovely and cosy and met our every need, and our little dog liked it too. It was lovely watching the sheep walk by every morning . Its location was close to Coniston and it was a bonus being able to walk there, which took about 20 minutes. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Great location and clean, well equipped accommodation. Be aware stairs to first floor bedroom are steep, but the details make this clear.

It was fabulous. Lovely homely cottage. Very warm and comfortable and super clean! Can't fault it. Just wish we could have stayed longer. I had the best nights sleep ever. The bed was so comfy. The corner bath was a treat and the house was very warm and cosy. We had everything we needed. Great access to local amenities and stunning walks.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. Clean and well equipped for our stay. Lovely cosy cottage to come back to after days hiking. We stayed as family of 4 (2 teens and 1 dog) perfect cottage. Great location to visit local sites, Cathedral Cave, Rydal Caves and Aira Force a few we loved. Would be nice to be able to leave our dog in the coRead morettage so we could go out for dinner after long hikes, but understand why due to previous dogs behaviour Hide

A lovely little cottage with good facilities, in a nice location. The parking to the rear is however very tight, at least for our larger car.

Very comfortable and well equipped for every day. Warm and clean. Great location for walks and with an off road path to the village was very good to leave the car behind. Parking was tight behind the cottage and we dont have a huge car. Steps in garden and stairs inside not suitable for anyone with any mobility issues or very young children.
