This canine-friendly retreat is one of several charming holiday homes located on the remote Kildermorie Estate, a true haven for nature-loving dogs and their owners. From your front door, access walking trails all bound to get the woof of approval from your four-legged chums, taking in magical forests, deep lochs and rolling hills. Perfect for couples and their two travelling pooches, this scenic abode offers a warming base, as do the external, heated kennels where your dogs will snooze.

The inside of the cottage is a cosy and welcoming space, with tasteful artwork on the walls and attractive sash windows. You’ll have a small but perfectly formed kitchen/diner, with all you need to whip up romantic meals for two, while the lounge is ideal for resting tiresome feet. When day turns to night, find a sumptuous bedroom upstairs that be made up as a king-size or twin depending on your needs, served by the well-appointed bathroom nearby. Your pets will love the outdoor space, which encompasses a lawned area for doggie ball games and leisurely picnics as you take in your peaceful surroundings.

For a serene local experience, walk to Loch Morie (0.5 miles) and enjoy a tranquil waterside stroll your pet will adore. There’s also excellent fishing there. When it’s time to emerge from the wilderness, drive 13 miles to the town of Alness where you’ll find pubs, shops, and restaurants to sniff out. Enjoy a scenic round at Alness Golf Club (12.5 miles) or take the 4-mile round walk up to the Fyrish Monument (11.5 miles), an attractive gate-like landmark constructed in 1782.

I love this valley, the cottages, and it's always a great base for my explorations in Scotland. I'll be back next year because I just find it so beautiful.

Another great stay at May Cottage. This is the second time we have stayed at May Cottage and it never disappoints us. Always clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen. Stunning scenery with plenty of routes to walk and explore. Birds of prey, deer and lots of other wildlife to watch. A perfect place to relax and reset.

This cottage is ideal for destressing and relaxing. It is situated in a remote area surrounded by forests and tracks. May cottage is compact but met all my needs. No tv . The road to the cottage has mixed surface starting off with good surface up to jus beyond distillery then goes into twisty single track with passing places, forest section is a biRead moret rough so keep speed down, section of road on the estate is a credit to the owner single track and smooth 15 mph speed limit. Would recomend Hide
