This delightful cottage on a private estate, known for its scenic beauty and tranquillity, is perfect for couples looking for a peaceful holiday with up to two beloved canine companions. You can hike out to the ruins of MacEwen Castle (1.5 miles), and your hounds can sniff out some adventures along the way. The nearby village of Tighnabruaich (9 miles) has a Victorian pier and glorious views of the Kyles of Bute. This area is known as Argyll’s Secret Coast and has lovely marked coastal and forest walks from your doorstep.
Enter this beautiful cottage by stepping into the kitchen, where you will find everything, you need to prepare a late brunch or a romantic dinner. Follow the hall through to the welcoming lounge/diner, with a window seat looking towards the loch. Snuggle up on the couch to watch the Smart TV while your canine companions rest in front of the traditional wood burner. Continuing back through the hall is a bathroom and a super-king-size bedroom. Enjoy the enclosed, mainly lawned garden and the outdoor dining area looking out towards the water. The Otter Estate extends to around 1,800 acres, so plenty of walks and hill climbs are available among the rolling and forested landscape.
Let fur paws lead the way at Benmore Gardens (23 miles), a magnificent woodland garden near Dunoon. Explore the Isle of Bute and discover Rhubodach reached via the ferry and set tails wagging with a walk along a section of the West Island Way across various landscapes. Kilbride Bay (9 miles) requires a walk (1 mile) to reach but the rewards are worth it. You and your pups will cross magnificent dunes and be able to admire the views of the Isle of Arran, and there is plenty of space for four paws to run around. Look out for the local seals, otters and porpoises.
