This cosy, traditional cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful Dartmoor National Park with its rugged tors, open moorland and tumbling rivers. Set on the outskirts of the pretty village of Horrabridge, which is less than 0.5 miles away, this lovely, rural holiday home sleeps four guests and one canine companion. With thrilling new scents to investigate, your pet will be in dog heaven as you discover Dartmoor’s glorious open spaces and panoramic views together.

A small porch leads into the light and welcoming lounge, with a comfortable plush sofa in front of a wood burner and French doors opening onto the spacious patio area. Next to the pretty, country-style kitchen is a useful utility room, where you can store walking boots and wash muddy paws. Upstairs, you’ll find a family shower room and two inviting bedrooms both furnished in soft tones. One is a twin and the other a super-king-size room with wonderful countryside views. Outside, is the front patio and at the rear, steep steps up to a lawn with seating.

The village of Horrabridge is renowned for its fine medieval bridge over the River Walkham, which runs through the village. Here you’ll find a shop, bakery, two pubs and a popular chip shop, ideal for a tasty takeaway supper. There are more shops in Yelverton (2 miles) and a trip to the historic Pannier Market in Tavistock (4 miles) is a must. Burrator Reservoir (4.5 miles) is surrounded by woodland, with a wealth of footpaths, including a 3.5-mile circular route around the water which your dog will love bounding along. Many paths lead up onto Dartmoor, where there are trails to suit all dogs and their families, from easy walks to more challenging hikes. Why not visit 700-year-old Buckland Abbey (3.2 miles) and wander the beautiful grounds? Four-legged friends are welcome but please keep them on a lead.

A fantastic little cottage for a short break. The property had everything we needed, including the peace and quiet of being in a secluded spot. It was lovely to be able to be sat in the lounge with the French doors open to the small patio and listen to the birds both in the morning & evening. A short walk down into the village to the Spar or pubsRead more. Would very much recommend staying there. Hide

Very comfortable cottage in a great location for walks from the door or short car journey to moor/river walks. Ideal for dog owners as garden is completely enclosed, but access is up very steep steps so not suitable for elderly dogs (or humans!) Reversing into parking space was a little tight.

This is a delightful cottage in a quiet spot away from through traffic. It is thoughtfully and tastefully equipped with everything needed to make the holiday easy and memorable. It is a wonderful centre for exploring Dartmoor but near the coast for those who want to see the sea.

What a beautiful cottage, located with easy access to the moors. Two double bedrooms with a shower room upstairs. So helpful to have the doggie/child gate at the top of the stairs. Easy parking in front of the off the beaten track and very well equipped cottage. It is the middle of three cottages situated at the end of a long private unmade drive.
