The epitome of easy country living, this charming stone cottage boasts a flower-peppered garden and is set in a peaceful location near the village of Swerford. Couples or small groups of friends are sure to delight in an escape alongside an honorary tufty-pawed family member. Furry food connoisseurs can peruse the organic offerings at Daylesford Farm Shop (12.5 miles), before settling in the leafy garden oasis to scoff a spread of local treats.

This inviting abode perfectly encapsulates a homely cottage aesthetic. Relax surrounded by checked upholstery, vintage artwork, and antique-style furniture. Grab a fluffy towel and dry off muddy paws, then step inside. After a day of adventures, sink onto the padded seats with a tipple while your snoozy pup stretches his weary paws in the glow of the open fire. Gather for a formal feasting affair in the dining room, complete with lush garden views. Ascend the tiled staircase to simmer supper over the Rayburn stove top as you potter in the sunny kitchen with Fido by your heels. Retire upstairs to find two traditional double bedrooms, one with an en-suite WC, and both with floral designs and soft pastel hues. Dogs can ball chase in the idyllic grassy garden while you perch with a morning brew on the outdoor furniture.

Head to Chipping Norton (5 miles) to savour a chilled refreshment as you lounge on a cafe terrace before perusing the selection of antique stores. Set tails wagging with a saunter beneath the ancient oaks lining the dense trails of Wychwood Forest 11 miles) or snuffle through the grassy parkland and investigate the stable yard at Chastleton House (11 miles).

The cottage is very tastefully and comfortably decorated and furnished and is in a very quiet and peaceful location so ideal for a complete chill which is what I used it for. But it is tiny- really only suitable for one or two people in my opinion. You need to be aware that the staircases up to the bedrooms and down to the kitchen and bathroom are Read morevery steep. The owner was probably the most helpful of all the cottages I have stayed in so far. Hide

It was great to stay at Myrtle Cottage for a week! The house was clean when we arrived and the location is perfect, very quiet and calm. The owner communicated clearly how to reach the cottage before arriving, and was always available to answer any questions during the stay. Just beware that the ceilings are quite low, so I (1.80 cm) sometimes struRead moreggled to stand upright . All in all I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds! Hide

We had a lovely week and the cottage was extremely charming with beautiful furnishings. The light touches of Christmas ferns & paper chains were also appreciated. We would love to revisit during the summer months to benefit from the garden area.
