Set in rolling hills within 1 mile of Leith Hall Garden & Estate, this homely, 19th-century stone steading up a quiet track serves as a convenient base for two couples or a small family with a passion for the great outdoors. Within easy reach of the Moray coastline and surrounded by some of the most inspiring landscape in Aberdeenshire, the cottage will suit walkers, trail runners and cyclists who want to get hands-on experience of the area. With spacious living areas featuring quirky design touches that bathe in plenty of natural light, the cottage offers magnificent views of a garden that children and dogs will love to explore.

Watch a film beside the lounge wood burner after an exhausting day exploring the surrounding area, with drinks easily brought down from the mezzanine-level kitchen, home to a Belfast sink set within a wooden dresser. The kitchen has everything the designated cooks need to create a fortifying meal, the snug dining room an ideal setting for candles, good wine and making plans for the following day. One of the two king-size bedrooms has en-suite facilities, while the second, smaller king-size bedroom, features a slightly lowered window, one of a number of quirky design features, including small doorframes, found throughout the cottage. Two bathrooms can be found just off the main corridor. Steps in the kitchen lead up to a spacious garden made for al fresco dining, while children and dogs can explore woodland and also a ‘magical garden’ just off the main lawn.

The cottage sits adjacent to the Leith Hall Garden & Estate, a gorgeous setting where dogs can lead the way through wooded trails galore. Huntly (1 mile) is home to an array of dog-friendly pubs and cafes, while enthusiastic walkers can take in the views atop Tap o’Noth (9 miles), The Buck of Cabrach (10 miles).

If you want some peace and quiet this is an ideal place to get just that. It is only a short drive to Huntly: The Bank restaurant and Forbes Raeburn butcher are recommended. You can access the coast, Speyside and south towards Braemar with ease We were lucky to get to chat with Jan the owner who lived next door, who had relocated with his wife fRead morerom Germany, and is genuinely passionate about the area. He keeps the cottage very clean, all of the furnishings are comfortable, and all other facilities are of good and work well. (The hot water is very hot.) The garden area is a bonus especially if you have dogs. If you have a car with low sills / spoilers it may have difficulty with the access track, but it should not really be an issue for most vehicles. In short - really good. Hide

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable cottage. The cottage is located in peaceful countryside and travelling about makes it the ideal location as we were able to visit many places. Also walks in the area.

Second stay for us at this lovely cottage in a beautiful rural location. This time in winter and we found it to be nice and warm with efficient heating and cosy with the log burner. Its very spacious and comfortable and well kitted out. The beds are very comfortable. Nice walks nearby- our dog loved the enclosed garden!

Woodside Steading is a comfortable, well-equiped and beautifully unique place in a gorgeous setting. We spent a very happy week here and found the kitchen easy to use, the dining room very handy and the living room cosy.
