A gorgeous Suffolk-pink cottage, this picture-postcard thatched home makes for a simply magical country stay. Sleeping eight guests, with the option of two additional people, the four-bedroom hideaway is set in the village of Thornham Magna, 3.5 miles from Eye and 8 miles from Diss. Venture into either market town to potter in the shops or dine out. Visit the famous auctions in Diss or follow the town trail in Eye. Head out from the cottage to explore the Thornham Estate, less than 1 mile away and home to the popular Thornham Walks. Take a nostalgic trip along the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, from Brockford, 4.5 miles away. Plan a trip to historic Bury St Edmunds, 20 miles away, with its impressive cathedral and Abbey Gardens. Snape Maltings, 24 miles away, is known for its concerts, galleries, eateries and shops. Thetford Forest, 19.5 miles away, also makes a superb day out. Visit the Wyken Vineyard for the award-winning Farmers market and Michelin stared restaurant.

Wander through the beautiful grounds before letting yourself into your fairy-tale holiday haven via the courtyard garden. Discover accommodation with a wealth of original features, such as oak beams and revealed studwork, complemented by colourful, eye-catching decor and a professional interior design. Find yourselves in the conservatory/dining room, where you can gather for meals and take in the glorious views out across the mature gardens out to the water meadows. Stroll through to farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, which has a useful larder, to put the kettle on for a cup of tea while dinner roasts in the AGA. This room leads into one of your cosy lounges, where you can stoke up the wood burner and settle in front of the Smart TV. There is a sofa bed in here that can be used for two extra guests if discussed at booking. Spread out into another lounge to light a second wood burner or watch something different on the Smart TV. There is also a useful family shower room downstairs. A steep, cottage-style staircase leads up to two double bedrooms and family bathroom from the lounge by the kitchen. From the kitchen itself, another staircase ascends to the main first floor. Here, there are two sumptuous double bedrooms, one of which is particularly appealing as it commands beautiful views over the garden and has a dressing area and an en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. Climb another steep staircase up to the second floor, where there is a twin bedroom, with zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as one king-size bed if discussed in advance. All the rooms in the cottage, particularly the bedrooms, have splendid views of the gardens and grounds. All four bedrooms have good storage space for clothes and belongings.

Outside, guests can relax in the eight-seater hot tub or sit down to summer lunches out in the courtyard area, where there is a table and seating for up to ten guests. Wander over to a second seating area set by the river to grill fresh Suffolk produce on the built in BBQ and watch the sheep in the meadow. Sheep also wander freely through the 5.5-acre shared grounds that guests are welcome to explore. Guests are also free to pick beans, asparagus, spinach and beetroot from the kitchen garden and apples from the orchard. They can also amble down to the river Dove that runs through the property and see Kingfishers and Little Egret. Please supervise children and dogs in the grounds. There is parking for five cars.
