This chocolate-box cottage in a rural Devonshire village is perfect for a memorable countryside getaway for a family of four plus one canine companion. Inside the thatched cottage, which dates back to the 1600s, you’ll find wooden beamed ceilings, a luxury roll-top bath and an exposed stone ornamental fireplace. Dine alfresco in the garden, take advantage of the private sauna and explore the surrounding nature reserves, quaint villages and coastline.

Step inside to find a cosy neutral-toned lounge with an eye-catching exposed brick and stone feature fireplace. To one side of the room is an elegant dining set beside a wall of aged wooden panelling. There are also two plump sofas in front of the Smart TV. Continue into the galley farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden countertops, rustic hanging lights and neutral tones throughout. Next to here is a convenient utility room with a WC. Also on the ground floor is a study room with a desk and a daybed. Climb the cottage-style stairs to reach a family bathroom with a roll-top bath plus two bedrooms – a king-size and a king-size zip-and-link which can be made into twin beds on request. Outside is a spacious garden with a lawn and furniture. To the front of the property is a separate barn containing a sauna and changing area.

Enjoy long walks through the countryside during your stay in the small village of Roborough and pop into the local pub. Spend an afternoon at the RHS Garden Rosemoor (6 miles). Take a picnic to Halsdon Nature Reserve (5 miles) or head to the Hartland Devon Heritage Coast (16 miles). Go for a dip at Peppercombe Beach (17 miles) and walk along the coastal path to Abbotsham Cliffs (17 miles).

The cottage was great in almost all respects but we had been looking forward to the sauna as advertised and paid for but found that both control knobs seemed to have been removed meaning we could not use it

We loved the cottage and it was ideal to visit other locations in Devon. The roads that lead to the village were a bit scarey. The local pub was open but the kitchen was closed for the week. That was a pain but couldnt be helped.

A superbly equipped cottage in a truly rural location. Waking up to the sight of cows and sheep in the fields was wonderful. There is a great dog exercise field five minutes walk up the road which our dog lived along with the nearby woodland walks. It was a shame to find the local pub had shut and was up for sale. Beautiful cottage superbly well equipped, lovely views across the valley, great location with a short walk to local pub. Very steep staircase might make it difficult for some.

We just enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing week at Thatch View Cottage. Beautifully decorated and furnished, and everything you would possibly need is there.
