This wonderful period property sleeps ten guests and two canine companions, making it perfect for walking holidays with friends and large family get-togethers. Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the pretty village of Gunnerside, you’ll have an endless supply of woof-friendly walks to explore, right from your doorstep. You can also pick up the long-distance Pennine Way just 6.5 miles away in Keld.

The 17th-century property is warm and inviting, with many original features, such as the stone-built bread oven, stone flooring and exposed beams. At the heart of the former schoolhouse is a large farmhouse-style kitchen, with a gorgeous oil Rayburn oven, which the hounds will love curling up in front of, and a large dining table for you to enjoy mealtimes together. The cosy snug is the perfect place for you and the pups to unwind and grab five minutes’ peace; curl up with a good book, with your furry friends stretched out in front of the roaring wood burner. Alternatively, enjoy evenings together in the lounge, watching a film or planning the next day’s itinerary. Outside, discover a fabulous south-facing enclosed terrace, whilst the woofers run around on the grass.

The surrounding countryside is bound to get tails wagging. Let Rover and Fido lead the way as you wind your way along the banks of the Gunnerside Beck, passing through ancient woodland and past waterfalls, finished off with a well-deserved beverage and dog treat in the local pub. If you really want to get the feet and paws going, why not take on the 268-mile Pennine Way? Steeped in history and passing across England’s wild northern uplands, the route is both challenging and rewarding in equal measures.
