Property code: OC-IC059

Situated in a courtyard of similar style cottages which are then surrounded by farmland, this attractive two-bedroom cottage is perfectly placed for long walks in the sunshine. It’s ideal for nature lovers and families with up to two dogs who don’t want their pets to miss out on adventures in the great outdoors. You can follow footpaths to the downs for breathtaking panoramic coastal views that will give you a new leash of life.

Dating from about 1695, the property has been lovingly converted from the original stables of Apse Manor and retains several original features including exposed beams. The spacious and homely lounge is a lovely place to settle back to watch the Smart TV with your contented canines curled up at your feet, or you can listen to your favourite tunes on the iPod dock – something by Bach or Jarvis Cockerspaniel perhaps! Upstairs, you’ll find two cosy double bedrooms. If you have children, the second room can be made up into a twin room (upon request). Outside is an enclosed courtyard with BBQ for al fresco dining. A gate opens into a further area where two cars can be parked beside the cottage – very convenient if you’re planning trips out with your dogs while you’re away.

Less than 2 miles away is the popular seaside resort of Shanklin. Its beautiful large sandy beach gently slopes to the water, making it ideal for swimming and doggy paddling. There are some restrictions for canines in summer, so check the signs before letting Rover off the leash. Further afield, the medieval castle of Carisbrooke (8.5 miles) welcomes dogs on leads. Famous for being where Charles I was imprisoned, its many highlights include the Edwardian-style Princess Beatrice Garden.

  • 2 Bedrooms - 1 double with Smart TV, 1 double zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request)
  • 1 Bathroom – bath with handheld shower and WC
  • Electric cooker and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer
  • Smart TV and CD player with iPod dock in lounge
  • Enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and BBQ
  • Off-road parking for 2 small/medium sized cars
  • Shop and post office 1 mile. Sandown and Ventnor within an easy drive
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 17:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

The cottage was lovely for a get away from everything. There was poor wi-fi and terrible phone signal, which is ideal if you just want a break. Sadly, our accommodation hadn't been cleaned on arrival so this made contact very tricky. Apologies were made and we were allowed to return to the property 1.5hrs later, which wasn't ideal as it was a propeRead morerty in the middle of nowhere and we had had a LONG day of travelling. That said, the accommodation was warm and cosy, lots of lovely local walks. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - thank you for review. We have spoken to the owner and the issues have been resolved. Beautiful little cottage, great location close to Shanklin & Sandown. Well equipped with almost everything youd need. Small court yard for sitting out, public footpath across the road where we took our dogs for nice walks through the fields. Was a great find and we would recommend to others

We had a fabulous holiday. The cottage has everything need. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are really comfy. The hand held shower was fine and easy to use. We met some of the neighbours who where very friendly. We also used a taxi on two occasions into Shanklin Old Village, so I can recommend Acabs.

Really nice cottage, very much enjoyed the stay, well equipped kitchen, sofa and tables comfortable for family to socialise, bedrooms a good size with space for clothes.. Didnt use any TVs. Outside was enclosed, so good for the dog to be able to access, and had a large rattan table and chairs set. Hide

A very quaint and comfortable cottage in a very rural location. Dog owners would welcome information about where to safely walk dogs from the property as no pathway alongside road and wanted to avoid the muddy footpaths
