This delightful, mid-terrace house, within a mile of the historic walls of York city centre, is the perfect location for families/friends looking for history, culture, shops and restaurants on their doorstep. And when you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle of city life, you can escape with your canine companions to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding North Yorkshire countryside.

Like York itself, this property is a mixture of old and new; with a delightful blend of traditional features and contemporary flashes of colourful fabrics and stylish furniture. Stepping inside, you will find yourself in the light and spacious lounge/diner with its open fire to snuggle up in front of and a table for four. The dining space leads through into the bright, galley-style kitchen or out into the enclosed courtyard garden with its outdoor seating. The shower room and WC is accessed through the kitchen. Up the steep, winding staircase, you will find the double bedroom and en-suite WC, whilst the twin bedroom is up a further narrow staircase in the converted loft space with its slanted ceilings.

There is plenty to do in York itself, with over 30 museums to visit, including the National Railway Museum and the York Castle Museum. Or why not explore York’s Viking past with a visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre. There is also the magnificent cathedral York Minster that shouldn’t be missed. To keep Fido happy, be sure to head to the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, where you’ll find Kirkham Abbey ruins in the beautiful Derwent Valley (15.5 miles) and the spectacular palace of Castle Howard (17.5 miles), where dogs are welcome.

Such a lovely, well appointed and tastefully decorated cottage. It was such a joy to stay here. Perfectly situated for a short (10-25 min) walk into York. The Old Grey Mare pub opposite has awesome hand pulled ale (BrewYork) and is very dog friendly.

Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a short stay in York, well furnished 4 people can esaily sit in the lounge and at the dining table. The location is excellent - a very short walk into York via a nice road or a a lovely stroll along the ouse. There are local amenties - shops, cafes and a pub all within 1 minute walk. Parking was easy aRead morend secure. The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people although the top floor twin is in the eaves and the ceilings are low - but nothing not to be expected in a cottage like this - the same with the stairs which are steep but typical of the period. The main double bedroom is surprisingly large and airy, the double bed was extremely comfortable. The shower had good pressure and the extra WC very handy. We would definitely recommend the cottage (we already have) and will definitely book again if we have a return visit to York Hide

This is a pretty and comfortable cottage in a very pleasant part of York. It takes 15 minutes to walk to the city walks and another 5 to the Minster. The cottage is well equipped and was perfect for a weeks stay.

We found the cottage very dog-friendly, well-equipped, and nearer to the centre of York than we thought it would be. The main road outside was noisier than we are used to. Parking our Partner van up the alley and around the back was not a problem at all. The welcoming prosecco and biscuits were good too. We'll come again!

Great location for walking into the city centre but a lot of traffic noise inside the cottage if youre not used to it. Well-equipped but narrow kitchen. Cosy sitting room and it was lovely to be able to light the fire. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Lovely welcome pack. The double mattress was so uncomfortable, however, that we could not in all fairness recommend this lovely cottage to a friend sadly. Hide

Had a lovely stay and the location is perfect. Everything we needed was on site and it was very clean. The welcome pack was very welcome. Its not suitable for people who struggle with stairs as they are very steep and a tight turn upstairs. It was ok for us but think some people would struggle. But I dont want that to be a negative as it was lovely

Green cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners have covered every eventuality. The kitchen is quite small but perfectly ok for the amount of cooking one wants to do on holiday. The walk into York takes approx 15 minutes then you have the whole of York to explore. It's unfortunate that the pub opposite has closed.
