Perched above the charming rooftops of Ilfracombe, this elegant apartment looks out across the harbour and towards the open sea. This is a wonderful coastal base for guests travelling with a much-loved four-legged companion, complete with a private balcony from which to watch the world go by.
Set on the first floor of a handsome Grade II-listed Georgian terrace, the apartment is bright, airy and thoughtfully laid out for up to five guests. The sitting/dining room forms the heart of the home, with two comfortable sofas, a dining table for shared meals, a Smart TV and a wood burner that’s sure to be popular with your heat-seeking hound. French doors open onto a balcony stretching across the front, where harbour views provide a stunning backdrop. The kitchen is sleek and well-equipped, making it easy to prepare anything from quick breakfasts before walkies to leisurely suppers. The main bedroom includes a king-size bed, antique touches and direct access to the balcony via French doors. A twin room with built-in storage suits friends or family, while the single bedroom creates a quiet nook for an additional guest. Two modern bathrooms complete the layout – one with a rainfall shower and the other with a bath. Outside, the balcony is furnished with a table and chairs, making it a lovely place for morning coffee or an evening drink as the harbour lights begin to twinkle. A private parking space directly outside the front door adds welcome convenience in such a central location.
With the harbour a stroll away (under 500 metres), you can wander down for coffee, browse galleries or stop at welcoming eateries, many of which are happy to accommodate a well-behaved mutt. The Tunnels Beaches (0.5 miles) are close by, reached through hand-carved Victorian passageways leading to sheltered tidal pools. While these beaches are not open to playful pups, from here the South West Coast Path (0.5 miles) opens up miles of dramatic clifftop walking – a dream for energetic paws and their humans. For a classic sandy outing, Woolacombe’s year-round dog zones (6 miles) provide wide open shores for ball games and long shoreline rambles.
