Grab the lead and head to Westward Ho! beach (1 mile) to walk along the golden sands; there’s a circular walk that takes you through the countryside on the way there and back along the coast. Visit the popular beaches at Croyde (22 miles) and Woolacombe (24 miles), nearer to home Appledore (5.5 miles), a historic fishing village, is worth exploring. For level walks and bike rides head to the Tarka Trail and take the kids to The Big Sheep (2 miles) amusement park.
