Dorset's beautiful landscape of rolling chalk downland affords wonderful walking, there are a network of footpaths directly from the lodge. The lodge is nestled in a rural location with views across Sydling Brook and to Langford Lake. The area offers a wealth of pretty villages, sandy beaches and a coastline which has World Heritage status. The towns of Dorchester, Sherborne and Yeovil are easily accessible and there are many National Trust properties to visit. The popular seaside town of Weymouth with its sandy beach is nearby and the harbour town of West Bay is a short drive away. In addition to this there are many attractions including Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, Monkey World, Hardy’s Cottage and Abbotsbury Swannery.

This detached lodge is approached via a private drive and stands proudly at the end in a beautiful rural setting. Enter through the double French doors and into the bright and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Here, you can relax on the comfy sofas and enjoy looking out to the Sydling Brook and beyond. Or, for those cooler evenings curl up in front of the open fire and enjoy watching a favourite DVD. The kitchen/diner has an electric Range master oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, it is a perfect place to cook a lazy breakfast or a special meal. The property’s two bedrooms are located off the lounge area and both have a light filled and spacious feel. Both bedrooms are super-king-size zip-and-links (which can be made into twins on request). There is also a contemporary bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC.

Heading out of the French doors is the Veranda which is open on two sides, but under cover and is the most magical spot to spend an evening relaxing with an open fire next to the Sydling Brook. There is a garden table, chairs and BBQ, so guests can relax with a spot of al fresco dining while enjoying the stunning views over the Sydling Brook and lake. Guests are, of course, free to explore the grounds around the lake, where you may see the very occasional fisherman. Ample parking can also be found to the side of the property.

Really lovely location, and so good for wildlife watching including kingfishers and deer. The outside seating area is especially lovely to sit out on in the evening with the fire. We all really enjoyed our time there, thank you!

Great peaceful location by the stream and lake. Saw pheasant, kingfishers, heron and a couple of deer too all while sitting on the patio. Internet/wifi was fine for netflix and Teams meetings if you are working - but the uplaod speed is too slow for your camera to be on. Good location for day trips to coast. Shops in Dorchester approx 15 mins driveRead more away. Would happily stay here again. Hide
