Stay at this beautiful converted barn in the Taw Valley in Devon for a relaxing holiday with your family and pets. With the river running right past the bottom of your garden, you’ll be perfectly placed for enjoying the charming countryside and wildlife. It’s just 12 miles from Dartmoor and 20 miles from Exmoor, opening up huge opportunities for doggy-pleasing walks through the vast open moorlands and deep river valleys of these national parks. The property can accommodate up to four people and three dogs, so it’s perfect for a family trip or holiday among friends.

This lovely stone barn has been lovingly restored in a contemporary style, with the original wooden ceiling beams still intact for you to admire. In the entrance hall, leave wet boots and wipe muddy paws before heading into the kitchen for a well-earned cuppa. The enclosed garden is a lovely spot for soaking up the surrounding views while the dogs run around together. To wind down before bed, curl up with the dogs in front of the TV.

You’ll be in a lovely rural spot, with the nearest pub 3 miles away in Chulmleigh. Dogs are welcome here, and there’s a garden offering lovely views over the mid-Devon countryside. Head to Whiddon Down (12 miles) to access walking and cycling trails through Dartmoor National Park. If the dogs are demanding sea air and sandy beaches, bundle them in the car to Westward Ho! (28 miles), a charming coastal town which is perfect for a day trip.

We had such a lovely time here, beautiful, peaceful location and well equipped. Only an hour from bude, and lots of other great places to go to in the area. Very nice cottage, welcoming, cosy and warm. Spacious and inviting it has been well looked after. All items supplied in the cottage were sufficient to make our stay comfortable whilst on holiday. Nice touch with the Welcome pack and lovely chunky towels. Shows the owners are aware of attention to detail.

What an amazing stay! As soon as we arrived (and thank you for the instructions as was a little tricky to find) we couldn't believe how amazing the location was! Difficult to find & access road very narrow . However when you get there its worth it peaceful, spotless, great facilities. Incredible walks in Tarka Trail only a few meters from the property through woods along river banks . Beautiful converted barn, wonderful views from pretty much every window. Loved watching the cows! All the comforts you need. Accommodating owners added extra chicken wire to prevent tiny dog finding an escape route. Also very patient with my changing guests. Great quiet get away. Had a relaxing time. The cottage was set in a beautiful spot , rolling fields and the river on the doorstep. My dogs and children loved it. The cottage myself was beautifully decorated and well equipped. The owner was very helpful I would highly recommend and weve already booked for next year!

Lovely accommodation, comfortable and well-equipped. A number of excellent dog walks, including the river at the bottom of the garden, which our dog loved, and the Tarka Trail, across the road. Very peaceful, in a wonderful setting, complete with an evening owl. Local villages are steeped in history and very welcoming. A perfect holiday.

King Fisher Cottage was really lovely! Looking out of the garden we could see the cows out in the fields in the evenings, my granddaughter loved it. The garden was great too for our dogs to play in after a day of adventures. They also loved the river for swimming. The owner Helen was really helpful, and the welcome, pack was so handy! We have just spent a week at Kingfisher Cottage with our 3 dogs. We really couldnt fault anything. It was clean and comfortable with everything we could need. Our dogs loved the garden plus the added bonus of being able to use the fields by the river to give them a run. It was so quiet with just bird noises and barely any traffic passing. We had a lovely long weekend at the Kingfisher cottage. Very clean and well equipped. The welcome pack with butter biscuits was a lovely touch.
