This two-bedroom cottage is set in the beautiful landscape of the Hartland Heritage Coast. Not only will your canine companions love exploring the smells of these Grade II-listed converted Victorian farm buildings built around a medieval complex, but they’ll be delighted you chose somewhere so close to the beautiful South West Coast Path that’s easily accessed from the pretty fishing village of Clovelly, just 3 miles away.

This lovely property, with exposed beams throughout, is all on one level with an internal step from the lounge. The lounge, with its wood burner-effect gas fire, is a cosy place to relax after a day frolicking along the many dog-friendly sandy beaches within a 10-mile radius. Prepare a Devon cream tea in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy it in the pretty enclosed garden where your canine companions can doze in the sun after a busy morning exploring the area. If you’re a group of salty sea dogs, you’ll appreciate the lockable shed where bodyboards, or bikes, can be stored. Several marked cycle routes lie within a 5-mile radius around Clovelly.

This property is right on the doorstep of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its sweeping sea views, striking rock formations and expansive sandy beaches popular with surfers, kite-surfers and dogs. Clovelly’s sheltered pebble beach is a short walk from the delightful car-free village of Clovelly, 3 miles away, where donkeys have been the main form of transport for centuries. Clovelly beach welcomes your canine companions all year round, and the village leads directly to one of the loveliest sections of the South West Coast Path. Travel from Clovelly to the dog-friendly Mouthmill beach, just 5 miles further along, through woodland and along cliffs – you’d be barking mad to miss it!

This was probably the cleanest and most comfortable property that we've stayed at so far. There were cleaning supplies available (including washing up items, brushes and hoover) which made it easy to keep on top of any messes. For those with dogs, you'll either need to bring a crate or stair gate to keep them restricted over night as there is nRead moreo door between the kitchen and living room and dogs are not allowed on the furniture. The enclosed back garden was fantastic for our pup, though the only longer walks we could do were via the main road. If you plan on going out for most of the day, there's a short walk down to the end of the property and back so they can do their business. There is a donkey stable at the back of the garden and there is the occasional whiff of manure. Depending on the time of year, you may also smell the fertiliser being spread on the surrounding fields. The location was very well positioned- we were able to easily reach Barnstaple, Tintagel and Clovelly. The SatNav tried to direct us to The Retreat, which is just down the road. Go past there and its the next turning on the right, signposted "Donkey Stables". The local pubs were dog friendly, and we'd thoroughly recommend the Hoops Inn and the Old Smithy Inn at Welcombe for food (they also have decent parking). We tend not to revisit places we've been before, but if we did, we'd definitely stay at this property again. Hide

Overall we were disappointed with the cleanliness and the layout of the accommodation - the open plan nature isn't obvious from the pictures and requires thought to keep the dog in the kitchen at night so that she doesn't sleep on the furniture. Things that are usually taken for granted in rental properties such as welcome pack, toilet rolls and diRead moreshwasher tablets were not generous. Hide

Donkeys at the bottom of the small enclosed garden were delightful but the stink of shxt and swarms of flies isn't. Next door property is dilapidated abd its rear garden is full of junk, building materials and old mattresses. Clearly visible through the fence.

A great place to stay. Nice and quiet, spotlessly clean, and well equiped. Very safe parking, wonderful scenery and close to where the original Donkeys of Clovelly are now stabled.

Amazing stay for a week with our labrador. We stayed in the long barn 2 years ago which is the property next door and have to say the layout of this one was nicer. Lovely memories again. Really well equipped property with everything you need for a short stayand more. I was very impressed by the quality of the items and everything was well maintained. My only criticism would be that the Wi-Fi is very slow and could do with upgrading, this may well be due to the rural location but its definitely something to look into. The free view Read morepicture on some channels was unwatchable but again this may be due to the location. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. Hide

Lovely cosy cottage with a nice secure garden for our dogs. It was very well equipped & the bed was really comfy. Beautiful views although weather didnt play ball for the first few days. Would definitely recommend but unfortunately noticed they will only accept two dogs from the NY & as we have three wont be able to re-visit for awhile
