Take off on foot and paw along the footpaths that lead along the shoreline of the lake, or join the scenic Bowness Circlar, a stunning 8-mile walk meandering over five different fells. Further afield, visit Kendal (9 miles) with its castle ruins and its rich history, and no visit is complete without a slab of Kendal Mint Cake.
