Slow down, unwind and recharge in this tranquil rural retreat with your furry pal by your side. Its large, enclosed garden is perfect for canine fun and games, and there’s a dog-friendly village pub just down the road for effortless drinks and meals.

Arranged across a single level, the detached brick cottage has a relaxed and spacious interior decorated in pale colours and filled with natural light. Lead your hound into the elegant lounge, where you can snuggle by the open fire on a chilly evening. Enjoy the glorious views through the French windows or spend a quiet evening streaming a movie on the Smart TV. The kitchen/diner is another impressive space, including all the appliances the cook could need and a handsome dining table for six. When it’s time for your pet’s meal there’s plenty of room on the floor for bowls, too. You might want to set a dog bed down in the spacious utility room, which also has a washing machine and space for shoes and boots. The tranquil bedrooms have pretty wooden furniture and lots of light. One of the two king-size rooms boasts an en-suite, while the other shares a family bathroom with the twin bedroom. The garden includes a large lawn where four-pawed-pals can run and sniff, as well as a furnished patio for al fresco dining. The gated parking area can accommodate up to four cars.

The charming village of Berwick St John sits within the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The stunning countryside around is perfect for long hikes with an energetic hound. Visit the ruins of Old Wardour Castle (7 miles), a unique, 14th century tower house, or head into Shaftesbury (6.5 miles) and enjoy the views from the top of infamously steep Gold Hill.

Beautiful holiday home , the owners are new to this, we had a few teething issues on arrival but the owners sorted asap. We needed to purchase a few extra bit as the cottage didnt have what we needed .ie no dishwasher tabs / washing up liquid no bin bags , no wine glasses or large drinking glasses, I like a home from home environment especially witRead moreh children, we did mention this to the owners so hopefully moving forward they will address these issues. Other than that its a beautiful place, I would stay there again. Hide

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Kestrels Cottage. Based in the small village of Berwick St John, the cottage has pretty gardens and great views of the surrounding countryside. Arrival was easy and welcoming with a handwritten note and a few goodies which were delicious. There is plenty of storage around the cottage making it easy to get eRead morestablished quickly. We took our pup who was well catered for including her own dog towel, bowls and dog toys available. The cottage was very well equipped meaning we only had to arrange a food delivery for our arrival and we were all set for the week. The kitchen is well laid out and equipped making it easy to home cook our meals like we would usually do. It is also spacious enough with a good layout if there were more guests staying but was also not too big for us a couple with our dog. Although we didnt make use of all features there is a barbecue, outdoor furniture and a small hot tub outside. The en-suite bathroom was nice and spacious with a waterfall shower and separate bath so good to have a choice dependent on preferences. Water pressure seemed good. Wi-fi also seemed to have no troubles although we didnt use it much and there is underfloor heating in the kitchen / diner. The hosts are really lovely and friendly who happily helped us where we needed it, whilst also respecting our space and privacy. The cottage has a lovely enclosed garden which our pup really enjoyed roaming, although not 100% secure down one side which wasnt an issue for our velcro dog who doesnt venture too far. The cottage was cosy and comfortable to spend time at, whilst also being well located to the surrounding area to allow us to visit local attractions. There is a lot to explore and do and we didnt get round to doing everything we wanted to so we would happily return to the area and Kestrels Cottage. Hide
