Set on the banks of the River Severn in the historic town of Llanidloes, this quirky riverside retreat makes an enchanting base for your Mid Wales adventures. This former town jail has been lovingly renovated into a cosy and welcoming home from home, offering a window onto the past while satisfying all your modern creature comforts. Gateway to the Cambrian Mountains, Llanidloes offers a great base for families and friends looking to combine local culture and heritage with outdoor activities.

As you venture into this characterful cottage, you’ll be entranced by its rustic appeal and homely comforts. With the original jail bars on a feature window, the kitchen/diner weaves a fascinating picture of the building’s original use. On warm days, throw open the patio doors next to the dining table to listen to the soothing sounds of the river while cooking and dining. Enjoy cosy evenings in the inviting lounge, while sleeping dogs lie in front of the wood burner. Watch the smart TV, curl up with a book or simply enjoy quality time together. Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms offer a restful night’s sleep, a double overlooking the river and a twin at the front of the property. A charming family bathroom completes the accommodation.

Sniff out delicious local produce at the weekly Saturday market, as you wander around this atmospheric town, admiring its timber-framed architecture and browsing antique shops. Or head out of town to explore its gorgeous surrounds from Llyn Clywedog Reservoir (6 miles) and Hafren Forest (8 miles) to the Clywedog Gorge Trail (4 miles) and Glyndwr’s National Trail (25 miles).

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, but just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town. Comfortable and everything you could need. It's a real home from home. We can't wait to stay there again. Thank you very much.

We had a lovely stay at The Old Roundhouse. It is well equipped for a small property and has everything you need for a great holiday. The town has some friendly cafes and interesting buildings. We enjoyed some lovely walks (there are books and maps provided) and you can walk from the door so we hardly used the car. We would recommend.

The cottage is very well located by the river and just off from the centre of the town. It was a perfect size for the two of us. Lots to see around the town and a good location to travel further afield.

A well-equipped and cosy riverside cottage, perfect for Llani town, local food, gorgeous walks and adventures further afield. The infant Hafren running just yards away makes this an idyllic setting for a quality stay. Peaceful, pleasant, clean and well equipped - we'd recommend to anyone.

A very characterful, cosy cottage in a perfect location for visiting the charming little town of Llanidloes. It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped, with fantastic views of the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break. The Hafren Forest was just a 15 minute drive away and a magical experience.
