Beautifully styled throughout, this luxurious 18th-century cottage in one of Devon’s prettiest villages sleeps six people over three bedrooms and welcomes two canine companions. Offering wonderful views over the Exe Estuary, it’s the ideal bolthole for families, groups of friends or romantic couples who want to explore the Jurassic Coast with their pups by their side. You’re sure to adore the stylish, characterful decor, and your pups are sure to love snoozing by the wood burner each evening.

Accessed via a short footpath or directly from the beach, this historic cottage is a pleasure to explore. Boasting a wealth of original features, artwork and a beautifully-polished concrete floor with underfloor heating, you’ll be in danger of falling in love with this property. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in the bespoke kitchen. Cook up a storm for your loved ones and head to the snug/dining room to eat at the dining table. Alternatively, step out onto the terrace, fire up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco – your pups can run free in the enclosed garden while you eat. After dinner, enjoy a glass of wine on the private balcony, chill out by the wood burner in the lounge, or head along the ‘outdoor secret sunset passage’ and treat yourself to a sublime sunset. When it’s time for bed, two separate staircases – both with steep cottage-style stairs – will take you upstairs where you will find three exquisite bedrooms.

Dog are welcome all year on select parts of Exmouth Beach (3.5 miles). They can also enjoy the main part of the beach from October to the end of April. It’s a lovely spot that’s popular with kayakers, kite-surfers, walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. After a great day on the beach, head to Lympstone Manor (1 mile) and treat yourself to dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant.

Our stay was fabulous, the cottage is a true gem - the location was perfect Although it does say that the village has three pubs but unfortunately 2 have closed down and so you needed to book The Ship as it was busy Wonderful spot the sunsets are beautiful

We had a wonderful week at shoestring cottage. It was so well equipped and there were lots of little extras left to make things really easy for us on our holiday. The cottage itself was absolutely fabulous. The views were amazing and we loved watching the water ebb and flow. The beds were incredibly comfortable as were the sofas and we loved the loRead moreg burner. The owners were brilliantly responsive when we encountered a problem entirely of our own making. We only have positive comments to make! Hide

Absolutely loved our stay at the beautiful Shoestring Cottage. A delightful and charming place. Very well equipped. Spacious. Beds were comfortable. Took my 85 year old mum and 77 year old aunt and although the stairs are steep they are reasonably short and they both managed them. The best thing about Shoestring is the location and a highlight was Read moresomebody swimming past when the tide was in. Ive stayed in Lympstone many times and in a number of properties and Shoestring has been my favourite. Hide

A beautiful cottage with so many homely touches. We even have the same sofa, microwave and table mats which made us connect with the property and owners. We have holiday lets and were hopefully on the same wavelength. Loved the location and made great use of the train station. A stress free holiday. Thank you.
