Take a duo of delighted dogs with you to this former corn mill near Fritchley in Derbyshire. Sleeping six guests, the beautiful, three-bedroom house, which dates back to the 1900s, is set within glorious grounds. Take your happy hounds to wander through the trees, paddle in the stream and see the waterfall. Venture 5.5 miles to the scenic Peak District, with its many footpaths and trails to set tails wagging and ears pricking up.

Enter to find a wealth of features, including the original millstone which has been made into a table. Hang dog leads in the hall then wander into the kitchen to light the wood burner and feed hungry hounds and humans. Lay the table in the dining room and sit down to eat while your furry friend settles in a corner. Find a useful ground-floor WC and a utility room, with a washing machine and dryer. Climb the stairs to relax with your contented canine by a roaring fire in the lounge. Watch the Smart TV and open the doors onto the garden on fine days. Find a family shower room at this level, plus a super-king-size bedroom, which can be arranged as twins if discussed in advance. Climb more stairs to another super-king-size that can be set up as twins, plus a king-size bedroom. Take your ecstatic hound out into the gardens at every opportunity. Keep an eye on him and any children near the pond and stream; pick any produce you spot and look out for wildlife. There is parking for three cars.

Venture just over 1 mile to see the famous Crich Stand memorial. Plan a trip to Chatsworth House, 15 miles away, where your pup can enjoy the 1,000 acres of parkland and some well-earned refreshment in the dog-friendly areas of the eateries afterwards.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage with our 5 month old baby and our labrador. The outside space was perfect for her (though be aware the larger part of the garden is not enclosed so you need an even closer eye on the dog) and she loved splashing in the stream and running about. The enclosed portion was very useful for just letting her out quicklRead morey. The bedrooms were all a lovely size and we easily put up our travel cot for the baby in our room. The large super king beds were very comfortable and made for a lovely nights sleep. The cottage retained lots of character and is lovely if youre looking for somewhere with country charm. Lots of nice places to sit in different rooms with different beautiful views and levels of light depending on what you need. Id say to anyone looking to rent it just to be aware that the kitchen and dining room are on a different level to the living room, so if concerned about mobility it might be more difficult, though it has proper, carpeted indoor stairs which make that less of an issue. We had absolutely no problems and kind of enjoyed the quirkiness of it. Overall Id recommend it for a comfortable, characterful stay and would say dogs will love it! Hide

The Old Mill is well equipped for a great holiday. It has a generous owner. It is good to know that unless you have a small car, it may be necessary to either back down the drive or turn round up the road if you approach the Old Mill fom the south due to the tight turn.
