This pretty property, situated less than a mile from the centre of the market town of Matlock, is ideal for all of your guests, including the waggy-tailed one! Sleeping six across three tranquil bedrooms, you could all soon be enjoying the pretty Lumsdale Valley walk that starts less than half a mile from your front door.

The property, which is part of a former corn mill complex, is cosy and comfortable where traditional furnishings blend with pops of colour. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a hearty meal for everyone, including a stylish electric AGA oven, when calming blues mixed with natural tones in the lounge invite you to sink back on the sofas in front of the Smart TV while Fido snoozes by the wood burner-effect electric fire. Upstairs, fresh and calming decor in the bedrooms mean you’ll have a great night’s sleep and wake up revitalised and ready to go, or slowly wake up to an al fresco breakfast on the patio.

Go back in time on a ride on a tram in the Crich Tramway Village (5.5 miles) where you can hop off to walk the sculpture trail that takes you back to the village. Waggy-tailed friends travel free on the cable car at The Heights of Abraham (2 miles); let them take the lead when you get to the summit to experience wonderful scenery through the 60-acre estate. Take a picnic and head to Carsington Water (8.5 miles) for stunning panoramic views across the reservoir; see how many different types of birds you can spot.

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 twin

This cottage is so well equipped, everything has been thought about. Very comfortable beds and fantastic location and worked well for our group of 5 adults and a dog. We loved the Bentley Brook tap room which is only 5 mins walk from the cottage. Would definitely book again

Superb cottage, one of the best we've stayed in. Very well equipped. Lots of guides, books, DVDs, games etc. if the weather is poor. Grear TV channels available (sports, movies etc.). Kitchen very well equipped. Lounge area large, but might be a squash for 6. Although sleeps 6, I think anything above 4 might be a problem. Allocated parking for 2 caRead morers, but plenty of other parking available on Lumsdale Road just a few yards away. Lots of pubs nearby - we recommend the Gate Inn at Tansley (always busy, but can book online) and the Tavern Tansley (quiet, but very welcoming). Great base for exploring the southern Peak District. Would thoroughly recommend. Hide

We had a very comfortable stay in this attractive cottage. We found the cottage to be very clean (no cobwebs or dust!). The beds were especially cosy. We enjoyed being able to walk to Matlock, Matlock Bath and on to Cromford (a pleasingly eccentric bookshop with a cafe at the top!)
