At a glance

  • Lovely holiday home right on the shore of the River Dart, just south of Dartmouth
  • Conservatory with pool table provides plenty of opportunity for competitive games nights
  • Ideal accommodation for a Devon break away with a group of friends or family

Property code: OC-BC4204

Gather the gang and have a ball in this beautiful holiday cottage. Situated on the edge of the River Dart, you’ll be ideally placed to explore the best Devon has to offer. You’ll have room for two families and three dogs or a mixed group, but the most important thing is everyone’s invited for a lovely trip.

This property has four floors, each with areas looking over the mouth of the river. As you enter, you’ll find the social spaces: a lounge with a huge bay window, bathed in natural light, a kitchen/diner for delicious meals and the games room/conservatory. It’s equipped with a pool table – because dogs aren’t the only ones who like playing with balls. Head up the stairs to find one double room with an en-suite bathroom and one twin room on the first floor, then a double room on the second floor and a twin and family shower room on the third floor. There’s a patio outside with furniture so you can dine, read or enjoy a drink in the sunshine.

You’ll be staying on the edge of Dartmouth, about a mile from the centre of town to the north and a mile to Dartmouth Castle in the south. Both places are well worth a visit: Dartmouth has plenty of dog-friendly cafes and eateries with delicious food for you and perhaps a little treat for four-legged friends. Dartmouth Castle allows dogs in the grounds, and then it’s about 100 metres over to Sugary Cove Beach. This is the closest beach, but there are plenty more around to explore, so bring your swimming costume. For walkies, visit the Little Dartmouth National Trust Reserve (1.5 miles), where you’ll find beautiful wildflowers and the ruins of a Civil War hillfort.

So the good. Fantastic views and location. Does have loads of steps even with the lift, without which you couldn't manage. Kids loved dropping the crab nets over the balcony ,always caught something. Comfy beds and good cleanliness. Well equipped if you can fathom how to use it. Not so good. Sitting room and kitchen/diner ok for 6,just, not 8. We visited for a week from Saturday 13th July 2024. Fantastic location. Great to have an allocated parking space. Amazing views of the estuary. The lift down to the ground floor is necessary to bring our bags down, although you can walk down the steps. Then a further set of steps down to the property. The house was generally clean overall, just Read morea few issues that were fed back. James the handyman made us aware of an non urgent electrical issue which the electrian came to fix a couple of days later. While James was on site, we reported another issue which he promptly resolved. Really nice man, very friendly. We would definitely look at returning next year. Hide

Despite a few problems we enjoyed our stay in this property, it is very well positioned for Dartmouth with lovely views of the estuary.
