Property code: OC-OLDSB

A period property which has enjoyed a contemporary and stylish makeover ensuring a elegant and comfortable retreat. This cottage is just the place if you are holidaying with your dog, with woodland walks right at your doorstep. Situated in the seaside hamlet of Bucks Mills, you will find yourself just a few hundred metres from the South West Coast Path where you can enjoy walks west to Clovelly or north to Westward Ho! beach.

An absolutely gorgeous property, this former schoolhouse offers many well-maintained original features which, along with the classically muted colour scheme, lend the whole property an elegant sense of style. However, this is not a fussy place to stay and the open-plan lounge/diner is a relaxing space where you can simply get on with spending time together and enjoying one another’s company. Outside, the gardens are spacious enough for children and your dog to run around, though do be aware that although the property is gated it is not entirely secure so please do keep an eye out.

Bucks Mills is a quiet kind of place located on Devon’s Atlantic coast with a steep path leading from the hamlet itself down to the picturesque and natural beach, where you can explore rock pools and take in some simply fabulous sunsets. Continuing around the coast, 5 miles to the west, the traffic-free village of Clovelly is a working fishing village boasting a range of interesting attractions including a museum, tearooms, and a small dog-friendly beach. A much larger beach can be found in Westward Ho! 9 miles away, which welcomes dogs along the whole beach in the low season and has a designated dog-friendly section during the summer.

We loved Old School house. Spacious and well equipped. Great to have table tennis. Good location. Really quiet and secluded. We don't have a car and it was both secluded but also a short walk to a shop and the coastal path nearby

Loved this place, perfect location. Get up early (without kids) and sit with a coffee outside and listen to all the birds. Fantastic. Table tennis, brilliant touch too, kept my boys busy for hours. PS - The is a sports direct nearby for replacement balls

A beautiful comfortable house in a quiet location. Great walking base . Scones with cream as a welcome gift and milk in the fridge - lovely. 5 min walk to local shop which ad all the basics and more.

Loved our stay at the Old School house and reading through the snippets of history of its former use.
