Enjoy a coastal escape in this period cottage in the unspoilt village of Shaldon. The holiday home welcomes four guests and one hound and makes a fabulous retreat for couples and small families seeking peace and tranquillity. The South West Coast Path passes through the village and there’s a stunning walk to the aptly named Labrador Bay. Just across the estuary, via a passenger ferry, is the elegant town of Teignmouth.
The detached, three-storey cottage is a quintessential coastal bolthole, with seaside-themed accessories sitting alongside fresh decor and original features. On the ground floor is an inviting lounge with reclining sofas to stretch out on after a long walk with the woofer. Spend time here, streaming a classic film on the Smart TV, whilst Rover dozes next to the wood burner-effect electric fire. Rounding off this level is a sleek kitchen/diner. Upstairs, you’ll find a bright and airy twin bedroom and a gorgeous family bathroom with a rolltop bath. The top floor is home to a beautiful king-size bedroom with characterful exposed beams and a cosy snug with beanbags, a Smart TV, and games consoles. To the rear of the property is an attractive courtyard garden with colourful flower beds, mood lighting, and an outdoor dining area. This space is fully enclosed for your waggy-tailed pal. Private parking is available for one small/medium car.
A short stroll brings you to the heart of the village, where you’ll find a handful of local shops and eateries. There’s also a spectacular botanical garden that welcomes furry friends. This stretch of coastline has some excellent paw-friendly beaches, including nearby Ness Cove, which is reached via a fascinating smugglers’ tunnel. Further afield, take a day trip to the wild and remote Dartmoor National Park (10 miles), or head to family attractions such as Go Ape (12 miles) or Babbacombe Model Village (5 miles).
