A truly unique retreat, this impressive property sits on the outskirts of a picturesque village, Clyro, just 1.5 miles from the famous “town of books” Hay-on-Wye. Set within the grounds of Cwmhir Court and a converted double farm silo, it offers a number of quirky features sure to capture your attention, from its impressive curved interiors to the outstanding views that it presents across to the Hay Bluff hill in the Black Mountains - it is quite the architectural feat. Roam with Rover from the fringes of Clyro into the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Hay, where a number of its eateries and bookshops welcome dogs. If it’s a Thursday, visit the market and bring home fresh local produce to prepare in the mind-blowing curved kitchen at this fabulous family-friendly holiday home.

Set within an enclosed plot, the two silos have been fused together to create a very modern space for up to five guests and a dog; with curved walls and a carefully considered subtle lighting plan to soften the feel of this once agricultural structure. Step into the lofty hall, with its high ceiling and flooded with natural light, here’s where you’ll find a small utility room and WC. To the right lies the gently curved lounge with wall-mounted TV and fantastic views to enjoy across to the mountains beyond. Set right into the curve of the building – quite the feature - sits the contemporary kitchen. Well-equipped and with all the necessities required to cater for your stay comfortably and there is also a table and chairs placed by the window of this very unique space. Go mutts for the curved wooden staircase, a delightful feature which takes you up onto a platform landing, looking back over the lounge. Here there are two bedrooms; a double with balcony boasting incredible views, as well as an ensuite shower room and another double bedroom, also offering beautiful views. A second curved staircase takes you up to the third bedroom, a comfortable single – on the landing of this floor, there is also a shower room and WC which is shared with the smaller of the double bedrooms. Outside, guests can enjoy the enclosed garden complete with furniture and charcoal BBQ.

Let your hound discover his or her sea legs and take a dip along the banks for the River Wye (1.5 miles) or visit The Warren, a historic local meadow for a spot of wild swimming, a frolic with Fido or a picnic within the stunning scenery of this special place. Hay itself offers an eclectic mix of shops, cafes and bars, many of which are dog-friendly, so you can tank up on a hearty meal before heading for walkies along Offa’s Dyke Footpath and Wye Valley Walk. Discover the breathtaking scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park with access to the untamed landscape of the National Trust’s The Begwns for even more spectacular views.

Perfect place. It is quirky in fabulous way. With its lovely cottage garden (enclosed) and very well thought out layout we had a great time with lots of good restaurants in and around H ay. Walks of all types of duration, up mountains or alongside the river. And of course loads and loads of bookshops. We are planning to stay again next year

A very comfortable, clean and cozy property. It was nice to have an enclosed garden where our dog could roam without us worrying. The views are stunning. Everything we needed was provided. The location is convenient for exploring the area and the many dog friendly attractions near by. Would highly recommend and would consider staying there again.
