Set on private farmland and surrounded by glorious Peak District countryside, this secluded farmhouse-style retreat has everything you could need for a rejuvenating break. Welcoming one VIPup and their four well-behaved humans, small families and groups of friends can write the pages of an unforgettable adventure. From peaceful strolls along sun-dappled country trails in one of the UK’s most stunning National Parks to restful hours in front of the wood burner at your home-from-home, you will only wish you had arrived here sooner.

Approached by a private tree-lined driveway reminiscent of French country lanes, this cottage is immediately beguiling. Wipe up muddy paws in the utility room and enter to find a magazine-worthy fusion of Scandi charm, rustic strokes and sumptuous finishes pervading throughout. Divided by a wide archway, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is where you’ll want to spend most of your time, perfectly mingling the property’s original features with contemporary comforts and amenities. On winter days, warm feet, and paws in front of the lounge’s wood burner, and in summer head out to the garden with its outdoor seating and rural panoramas. Completing the picture, the ground floor houses a stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower and plunge bath, while upstairs there are two plush bedrooms for blissful repose. The owners aim to reduce their carbon footprint by providing low energy lighting, furnishing with some pre-loved and UK made items and appliances with good energy ratings. Eco credentials also include some of the electricity to the property provided by solar panels, with the remainder sourced from an energy supplier which uses 100% renewable sources.

Once you’ve had your morning coffee in the enclosed garden, pop your pup on their lead and explore the sprawling grounds beyond. Located within the lower reaches of the Peak District National Park, there are plenty of opportunities for walks and bike rides here, including nearby Dovedale (7.5 miles), a scenic valley and nature reserve with lots of walking paths. Only 6 miles away, you should definitely veer off to the see the impressive Thor’s Cave, too. To refuel, the picturesque village of Parwich has a great dog-friendly pub (1.5 miles).
