Peacefully nestled away within the cheerful coastal village of Dunwich, this homey three-storey cottage is the perfect retreat for a family of five or a small group of friends and a pup. Located in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are plenty of trails from your doorstep that we’re sure your pooch will love sniffing out.

Step into the charming chocolate-box cottage and be welcomed with plumped up sofas to sink into and a roaring inglenook fireplace which your four-legged friend can curl up in front of after a hard day of exploring. This living room/diner combination boasts characterful original wooden beams as well as a table and chairs for when you want to clink glasses over a celebratory meal. Savour delicious dinners made in the well-equipped kitchen, where you’ll also find picturesque views looking out upon the sheltered garden and patio area; plenty of space for the dog to play fetch. Winding cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor where two bedrooms invite you to sleep tight. The master bedroom has far-reaching sea views where even the faint sound of waves can be heard. Snuggle into sumptuous duvets in the king-size bed or follow the cottage-style stairs up to the next floor where you’ll find a twin room with a high vaulted ceiling and authentic wooden beams.

This gorgeous cottage is ideally located just half a mile from the beach, where paws are sure to get sandy. Travel back in time and visit the museum, where you will dive into the history of Dunwich and its fascinating stories of old or head to Dunwich Forest, where nature enthusiasts and walkers will be in their element spotting resident wildlife. Nearby, a pub and two tearooms draw in locals and visitors alike with their delicious homemade scones and cream, and possibly a little nibble for Rover too!

Very good for our needs as late middle-aged couple plus dog. May have limitations for other party combinations owing to linked bedrooms, only one bathroom/toilet and steep staircases.

This cottage has lovely views from upstairs but is in need of renovation and repair. Guests need to be aware that the only bathroom is downstairs off the kitchen so anyone staying in the loft must descend two flights of stairs. There is no dishwasher, all the upstairs rooms are accessed via the main bedroom, the curtains and blinds upstairs are inaRead moredequate/broken, the stairs are not suitable for anyone remotely unsteady (not just under 2s as suggested), there is no pavement outside so be aware with pets, young children that you are straight into the road. Would not recommend staying here until some upgrades and improvements have taken place. Hide
