The house is set in a lovely part of Exmoor. The living accomodation is very spacious and very good for large families or groups. The dining area was perfect for us over Christmas too. Generally the bedrooms were good and to a basic standard.

Monkham House was perfect for us as a mixed group of 14 adults. Bedroom flexibility (couples / singles) was great (1st floor bedrooms and bathroom - some have been recently refurbished - are swisher than the second) several differnt areas to mix and chat, nice kitchen. A beautiful big house in a cute village on the moor. Lovely grounds and setting with the horses next door. Nice pub within walking distance and a nice kitchen and eating areas for a group. We had a wonderful time at Monkham House for my Mums 60th birthday. We were a multi-generational group of 13 adults, 1 baby and 4 dogs. We had plenty of space and loved that there were two reception rooms to socialise. The two fridges were very useful. If you are heading there make sure to take extra toilet roll and bin bags. Communication with NikRead moreki was very easy and we would really like to return next year. Hide

Location is great but the house is in need of updating. Things are quite tired and there is obviously a damp problem in some of the bedrooms. The extra beds - single futon and z bed were extremely uncomfortable and had to be made ourselves. And dont forget to bring extra loo rolls!
