Surround yourself in historic charm at this delightful former blacksmith’s forge that served the village of Belchford until the 1950s. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, its ideal for small families or groups of friends who are searching for a characterful bolthole to call home while they explore the Lincolnshire Wolds with their pups in tow. Head into Louth to browse the market stalls and soak up the atmosphere in the historic Cornmarket with your pups. In the evening, come home to dine in style in your cottage’s enclosed courtyard.
Park in your private spot (there’s room for two cars) and step through the French doors in the cottage’s huge glass archway. Inside you’ll discover an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with original brickwork and striking beams, where vintage pieces found on the site during its restoration take pride of place. Head to the farmhouse-style kitchen area to whip up some dinner to share at the elegant dining table. Alternatively, step out into the courtyard and dine alfresco while your pups play in the enclosed space. Afterwards, treat yourself to a chilled glass of wine by the wood burner in the lounge area as your pups snooze happily at your feet. At the end of the day, climb the beautiful spiral staircase upstairs (not suitable for infants) and you’ll find two gorgeous bedrooms – a king-size with an en-suite with a shower and bath, and a charming twin. Both feature lovely sloped ceilings and skylights. A family bathroom with a free-standing bath and a shower on the ground floor completes the layout. Make a beeline to Red Hill Nature Reserve (5 miles) to explore the peaceful trails with your pups, or head to Hubbard’s Hills (11 miles) so your faithful friends can paddle in the streams.
