A handy ground-floor WC with a washing machine adds practicality for longer stays – and you’ll have access to a shared tumble dryer. Upstairs, two light-filled bedrooms await: a king-size room and a cosy twin, both served by a family bathroom – a restful place to recharge before the next day’s adventures. Outside, the cottage is surrounded by countryside, with a small private area where you can sit and take in the views. It’s a lovely spot for a morning coffee while your pup sniffs the fresh air, or for laid-back lunches at the picnic table. Private parking for up to three cars is provided.
Energetic tail-waggers and their owners can uncover woodland trails and biking routes at Cwmcarn Scenic Drive (5.5 miles), while history hounds have a wealth of castles nearby, including Caerphilly Castle, Castell Coch and Raglan Castle, where dogs on the lead can roam the lower levels and surrounding estates. Head into Cardiff (14 miles) for a mix of culture, shopping and pet-positive dining, while for a traditional seaside outing, Barry Island (27.5 miles) is well worth the trip.
