A stay at this inviting home in Ambleside, within the Lake District National Park, gives friends and family the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation and fantastic food. Ambleside is renowned for its superb selection of galleries, independent shops, and excellent eateries. Start the day with a hearty brunch before heading out onto the fells, pause for a celebratory afternoon tea, or book an intimate Michelin-starred dinner for a special evening together. For outdoor lovers, the surrounding fells provide endless walking opportunities, from gentle lakeside strolls to more challenging hikes with panoramic views. Waterborne activities on nearby Lake Windermere offer even more excitement, whether that's paddleboarding, kayaking or scenic boat trips. Indoor attractions, tempting cafes and welcoming pubs ensure there's always somewhere to retreat to, making Ambleside a brilliant year-round destination.

From the front door, head into the lounge where sumptuous seating is gathered around a wood burner that takes pride of place. It's a lovely setting for catching up after a day on the fells. Beyond, the kitchen/diner combines classic design with contemporary touches. A large range cooker, integrated appliances and sleek quartz worktops make catering a pleasure. To the rear, a practical utility room houses a washer, dryer and freezer, with access out to the courtyard. Stairs rise from the lounge to three bedrooms. To the rear, a single and a king-size share a family bathroom complete with a beautiful roll-top bath – just the thing after a long walk. At the front of the cottage, the master super-king bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room; this room can also be arranged as a twin on request at the time of booking.

Outside, the enclosed patio/garden provides a corner for al fresco moments. While there is no private parking at the cottage, a permit for one vehicle is included, valid in several village car parks and throughout the South Lakes.

Comfortable, well equipped house. Huge, comfortable bed. Right in the middle of Ambleside which was great. Hardly used the car, plenty of walks from Ambleside. Carpark permit was great, we were able to park outside to unload, then put it in carpark.

A great location, with clean modern facilities. Despite not having private parking, it didn't deter from our stay and we would certainly consider staying here again in the future.

Just a wonderful place - one of pir favourite ever. Very easy to find, warm and lit when we arrived. Wonderfully cosy and spacious and well equipped. We were 4 friends meeting for a much needed relaxing weekend and it perfect. Sadly the weather was awful but that made the fire, sofas and lovely ambience even more appealing. Special thanks for the vRead moreery speedy action when we had a minor heating problem. Would highly recommend this wonderful place. Hide

Outstanding location in the heart of Ambleside and short walking distance to fabulous restaurants, pubs, the cinema and supermarket. Clear instructions and good access making arrival close to midnight effortless which was much appreciated after a ten hour car journey . Great accommodation especially the kitchen and living room although the 3rd roomRead more is small with no cupboards or bedside table at the head of the bed. Back access to the courtyard and an outside tap made cleaning the dog after long walks much easier. A parking permit for the full duration of the stay to use the carpark across the road as well as others in the Lake District was a joy. Overall a hugely enjoyable stay. Hide
