Lake Windermere is right on your doorstep for boat cruises from Waterhead Pier (1.5 miles) – or hop on the Windermere Ferry at Bowness (6 miles) to explore the quieter western shore. Outdoorsy types will love the climb up Loughrigg Fell (4.5 miles), while Wansfell Pike (5 miles) is a brilliant hike that rewards adventurers with outstanding views over Windermere and Ambleside. Round off the day with a nosy around Grasmere (5 miles) for a taste of its namesake gingerbread and Wordsworth links.

Step inside this attractive cottage and into the beautifully styled, open-plan living space. Featuring flagstone flooring, exposed stone walls and traditional oak beams, this beautiful room combines a well-appointed kitchen with an airy dining space and cosy lounge – all warmed by underfloor heating and a roaring wood burner. Find all you need in the kitchen to cook up Lakeland feasts, which you can enjoy at the farmhouse dining table inside or alfresco out on the patio. After each meal, head to the lounge space to sink into the soft seating and flick on the Smart TV. When it's time to call it a night, head upstairs and choose from two gorgeous king-size bedrooms. One bedroom features an en-suite shower room, while the other is served by the family bathroom with a free-standing bath and separate shower. Stayed here in April as a group of 6 friends with two small/medium dogs. The house was perfect, plenty of space so we didn't feel like we were in each other's space when we were in the property. All local pubs/ restaurants/ convenience stores within 5 minute walking distance. Great location, We look advantage of The Copper Pot coffee shop opposite Read moreand the bus stops towards Grasmere /Ambleside just on the next street along. The rooms were clean, spacious and well maintained. Would 10/10 recommend and we will be back again in the near future. Thank-you Hide

Superb place to stay in the heart of Ambleside. What an amazing location. The house has everything you need and is well furnished throughout , including a very well stocked kitchen with all the utensils we required for a 3 day stay. Had a fabulous stay at Roembeck. A lovely cottage in the heart of Ambleside. Well equipped, very homely, annexe was great for our daughter and boyfriend to have their own space. Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Welcomed by a nice bottle of fizz and lots of handy information from Lakeland Retreats like walks from Ambleside, top 10 dog friendly pubsRead more etc. Once we got the hang of the parking situation it was fine, you need to time it right in the long stay car parks when it's really busy, and the permit was great. We purchased an additional permit as we had two cars. Some days we didn't even get in the car as there is so much on your doorstep whether that be walks, shops, pubs, cafes. Will definitely be back again!! Hide
