  • Three spacious bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms
Property code: OC-88907

This contemporary and characterful property has tranquil rural views from its location in the picturesque Cumbrian town of Alston, high up in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding National Beauty. With an enclosed garden for four-pawed pals and a hot tub in which their owners can enjoy bubbling relaxation, it is a perfect place for families or groups to enjoy time together away from the stresses of everyday life.

Enter the detached stone house either from the front door into a small lobby, where there is a handy WC, or through French doors at the side, directly into the open-plan living space. One side of the central dining area, a step leads up into the impressive kitchen, while the other side, three steps take you down into the lounge where exposed stone walls, a wood burner and timber flooring create a welcoming spot in which to enjoy a sociable evening with your puppy pals at your feet. On the first floor there are three bedrooms: two super-king-size (twins on request) plus a twin, all with Smart TVs and en-suites – two of which have showers while the third has a free-standing bath and a double shower. Outside, the lovely lawn ensures happy hounds, and there is a raised deck with dining furniture and a private hot tub, from which you can enjoy peaceful views over the field and fells.

From Alston join the South Tyne Trail through the North Pennine Hills, where a 5-mile hike (watch out for stiles!) will take you to Ashgill Force, a dramatic waterfall, perhaps accompanied by curlews and golden plovers overhead. Alston’s train station is also the starting point for the South Tynedale Railway, a narrow-gauge railway on which canine companions are welcome. Another dog-friendly destination nearby is the fascinating Killhope Lead Mining Museum, 7.5 miles.

Absolutely wonderful cottage. The best beds we've slept in away from home. The bed linen was fabulous . Everything we needed was there. We took our dog. Beware of the loose chickens on arrival, but once in the property, the garden is completely secure, unless you have a dog that can clear a 5 foot natural stone wall ! Owners moved their pet sheep, Read moreso we were able to use their field. Great walks. Local pub the Cimberland was really friendly. Recommend drive out to Hexam. Highly recommended Hide
