Go mutts for this beautiful farmhouse, set within the heart of the Dark Skies Park, Northumberland, perfect for families, friends and couples, as well as being a welcoming retreat for up to two beloved hounds. With so much natural beauty on your doorstep, you won’t ever be far from big northern adventures under big starry skies; explore miles of the beautiful countryside and ancient woodlands – leave no stone un-turned or stick un-fetched! The lodge itself has been sumptuously decorated and offers a dose of luxury for all of its guests, whether you’re on two legs or four…

Step inside this beautiful stone-built barn which has been thoughtfully refurbished and handsomely decorated throughout. The majority of the living accommodation is located on the first floor, taking full advantage of the spectacular views across Tarset Valley and the surrounding open countryside. Through the spacious, bright hallway you can reach the front garden via a glazed door, but this is also where you’ll find the three attractive ground floor bedrooms. Two are king-size rooms, each with gorgeous feature stone fireplaces and beamed ceilings and there is also a cosy twin bedroom. The family shower room has a wet-room style shower and WC as well as there being an additional downstairs WC. Upstairs, step into the stunning open plan living space with lounge, kitchen and dining area. Boasting impressive vaulted ceilings that draws up the eye, it feels incredibly spacious. A contemporary kitchen features all the mod-cons required for a well-catered stay, and this gives way to the dining area and spacious-but-cosy lounge beyond. With its Chesterfield style sofas, heavy drapes and an original stone fireplace that looms overhead, it’s the ideal spot to curl up with a book and let sleeping dogs lie at your feet. To the front of the cottage there is a large, south-facing garden, flat and with a shallow incline, it is a great place for children – or dogs – to run off excess energy. Sit back and enjoy the views…and don’t forget to look up after dark…there is plenty of seating outside and a picnic table for alfresco dining. Up to three cars can park off-road at the rear of the property.

Set within a country estate that spans sixty acres of the Tarset Valley within the Northumberland National Park, there is an abundance of outdoor space to explore directly from your door. The Dark Sky Park’s nightscape is a spectacular sight to behold, with millions of stars overhead. By day, wander with your canine companions across woodland trails; Kielder Forest and its many routes sits just 15 miles away or a little closer to home, ramble across to Black Middens Bastle House and the Sidwood Trail, which is a popular dog friendly route. For shops, pubs, restaurants and the Hareshaw Linn Waterfall, Bellingham is 7 miles away.

For larger groups, this property can be booked alongside neighbouring Bastle Lodge, providing accommodation for up to 26 guests across the two properties. Please contact us and our team will be happy to assist with coordinating the bookings.

What a find this cottage was, very isolated in an idyllic location with excellent facilities. The very long single track road drive up to it may be daunting to some, but you are rewarded with a tranquil setting with access to great walks on your doorstep, and within easy reach of Kielder Lake, Cragside NT and Hadrians Wall. The cottage was quirky wRead moreith its upside down layout and open plan living. The bedrooms were large and well equipped, and more importantly very comfortable. Highly recommend Hide
