This stylish barn conversion, sleeping four guests plus two fury friends, has far-reaching views across beautiful countryside and is located on a working organic farm, close to the pretty village of Okeford Fitzpaine. The semi-detached property, one of a pair of converted barns, has an enclosed terraced area & a large, open field to the rear, ideal for ball games or doggy romps. A private all-weather sports barn is close by, and the glorious North Dorset landscape is on the doorstep, with a wealth of footpaths for you and your canine friend to discover.

The timber-clad barn is reached via an unmade lane and shared drive. Inside, the light and airy open-plan lounge, diner and kitchen area has large glass sliding doors with wonderful country vistas. Sumptuous sofas in jewel shades are an invitation to curl up in front of the wood burner while Hector and Poppy snooze on their special blankets. There’s a smart contemporary kitchen and stylish walk-in shower room and WC. Upstairs are another WC and two beautifully furnished bedrooms: a king-size with a balcony window and gorgeous scenic view, and a twin bedroom set within the eaves. While this partly lowers some areas of head height, it adds to its cosy cottage charm.

Okeford Fitzpaine (0.5 miles) is within a short stroll and has a shop and dog-friendly pub. Visit the market town of Sturminster Newton (3 miles) to see a historic working water mill in a lovely riverside setting, and the fascinating local museum. Your faithful hound will enjoy the easy walking trail that runs from Sturminster along the route of an old railway line through unspoiled countryside. Scale two spectacular Iron Age hillforts, Hod Hill and Hambledon Hill (both 4.5 miles), with magnificent views from the summit. Further afield, see Georgian Blandford Forum (7 miles) and the famous Gold Hill in Shaftesbury (9 miles).

The barn has a lovely outlook and is comfortable, but there are some issues. 1. it says in the welcome pack at the barn that they have an Iron and Ironing board in the cupboard - there was neither 2. There is an issue with flies, the fly catcher needs cleaning and there was lots of dead flies on the window ledge above the cooker, which is not hygRead moreienic. 3. it says it has a fridge freezer but it does not, it has a tall fridge with a ice box at the top, which was so high that unless you are over 5'10 no way of accessing this and it was only big enough to put a pack of ice in, which was clearly left from the previous people as all frozen so not sure how long it had been there. 4. There were dog poo stains on the artificial grass outside which could have been cleaned. 5. We never saw the owners ever on arrival or departure. Hide

Peaceful location overlooking the countryside, we saw a deer, two fox cubs, birds of prey and an owl in the field outside as well as some beautiful sunsets.

Lovely lodge in a lovely location. We booked both East and West lodges and shared the accommodation with family. Very clean and comfortable stay. The views are spectacular, lots of wildlife to see (deer, pheasants, owl, bats, red kites, buzzards) and the hot tub was fantastic. A great week away, would definitely recommend and hope to return :-)

Amazing location, beautiful views, lovely house. We had 3 lovely days here, and would come back again. Our little boy wanted to sell our house and move in!

We went for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and it was the perfect location for what we needed! The views and setting were beautiful and not too far away from exploring little villages near by! The hot tub was the cherry on the top! Mum and I loved it, thank you!
