Enjoy a voyage of discovery to the Lake District National Park, using this quaint split-level cottage as the ideal base for one or two couples or a small family – and one furry family member can come too! Whether you’re inside or outside this property, the views of the surrounding hills and countryside will astound you, helping you to relax, take stock and put things in perspective. This riverside location is accessed via a private track shared with three other properties.

This stone cottage welcomes your pack in with a bright and airy interior, effortlessly marrying rustic elements with modern comfort. Thoughtful touches make life easier, such as the outdoor area to leave dirty boots. Set amid stunning scenery, you can drink in the wonderful Lakeland views – whether you’re washing up after using the well-equipped kitchen to prepare a meal or simply relaxing on the sofa. Lots of windows and skylights allow the light to flood in and highlight historic features like exposed wooden beams. The sleeping accommodation is calming and flexible, with one en-suite double and a twin room catering to family groups. Take time out in the enclosed patio garden with its choice of seating and more of those breathtaking views.

Grab the dog lead as there’s fabulous walking right from your doorstep – just pick a route that suits your party. Stroll along the River Rothay or into the heart of Grasmere village, renowned for its largely unchanged shop selling gingerbread since 1854. The Grasmere Lake waterside path is fairly unchallenging, or the Fairfield Horseshoe 3 miles away is a more challenging day walk – rewarded by lovely fell views. Dove Cottage is the former home of William Wordsworth, now a museum. Or take to the water with a boat trip in Ambleside or Windermere, both within 9 miles.

A great location for visiting the lake district. We have been visiting Greasmere for 25 years, stayed in cottages, hotels and B&B's and without doubt this is the worst for clenliness, furniture and equipment. The smell of pets throughout the property is unpleasant. We accept pets are welcome but expect cleaning tackles the hair and smells left, espRead moreecially in the bedrooms. Black mold in the bathrooms is horrid and another indicator of poor cleaning standards. Washing machine was filthy, toaster broken and I could go on with a long list of issues. The lack of local support for emergencies is a problem, having to deal with a national call centre for a broken tap was challenging to say the least. Access to the property is very tight, if you have a big car (SUV) or estate car it will be a struggle. The Lake District has many cottages available, next year we will book with a local firm or directly with an owner. There are lots of options to avoid national companies providing a poor service. We loved this quirky cottage because of its peaceful position, yet only a few minutes into the centre of Grasmere . We would give the stunning view out of the window a 5 star rating but would struggle to give the rest of the accommodation more than a 4 star rating ( if that ! ) . Yes it has an en-suite bathroom and central heating but the lounge Read moreand kitchen are very small . The freezer is only a very small compartment at the top of the fridge not big enough to store much frozen food . And I think the description stating the cottage overlooks the river Rothay is a bit mis- leading . We have stayed here before so we knew what to expect. Having said this we would stay at this property again as its sp peaceful and a quick pleasant stroll into the centre of Grasmere. Hide

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed for a short break in the lake district. Kitchen was well stocked, could have easily cooked full meals if required. Outdoor area for muddy boots and plenty of coat hooks always useful. Nice selection of games, tv, comfy sofa and blankets.
