Derwentwater, perfect for two dogs (and their owners). With no TV or fancy gadgets to distract you, it offers an opportunity for a couple or solo traveller to enjoy life’s simple pleasures in the company of their beloved pets. The water's edge lies within half a mile of the cottage, offering beautiful trails that make daily walks a joy. There’s plenty of open spaces too, giving your dogs the freedom to run around and play.

With its simple decor, exposed brickwork and traditional slate flooring, this pretty stone-built cottage is homely and full of character. The lounge is a cosy spot to snuggle up with your pups. Choose a novel from the bookshelf or play a board game while your pets snooze contentedly nearby. Also on this floor is a light and airy bathroom, where you can enjoy a long soak after taking the dogs out for evening walkies. The delightful double bedroom is at the top of a winding open-tread wooden staircase, offering a cosy retreat after a tiring day. At the front of the property, a shared patio area provides a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy the morning sunshine with your pups resting at your feet.

Follow the lakeshore and hike up to Catbells (2.5 miles), one of the area's most loved fells. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views, while intrepid canine explorers will get a kick from the physical and mental stimulation. A mile from the property is Keswick, where many more dog-friendly adventures await, including the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path, which follows the old train line. A different way to see Derwentwater is on a scenic cruise with Keswick Launch. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to board free of charge.

This is a really cute old cottage within easy walking distance of Keswick. We used it as a base for attending the Keswick Convention. Fantastic walks from the doorstep. The bed was super comfy. The bath and shower were excellent even if access was a bit strange having to go straight through the kitchen. The kitchen was adequate for self catering. PRead morelenty of crockery and cutlery was provided. A spacious place for 2 people. Great value for money. Hide

The cottage was very small with a staircase that was difficult to use for my parents. It was steep and narrow and with the bathroom being downstairs, not ideal for older people the negotiate in the middle of the night.
