Set on a working farm in the peaceful hamlet of Caenby, this elegant retreat is a lovely choice for couples, friends or small families travelling with a dog. It offers a calm escape surrounded by quiet country lanes and public footpaths – ideal for daily strolls with your four-legged companion. Further afield, the rolling landscapes of the Lincolnshire Wolds (9 miles) provide endless sniff-worthy trails.

Brimming with character, this beautifully preserved brick farmhouse dates back to 1788. Relax all together in the stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining space, which features exposed beams and classic furnishings for a warm, inviting feel. You’ll have a wood burner for warming your hands (and fur) after fresh-air adventures. For quieter moments, head up the glass spiral staircase to a snug reading nook. There are two king-size bedrooms, one of which can be arranged as a twin on request thanks to a zip-and-link bed. These share a Jack and Jill bathroom complete with a free-standing bath and walk-in shower. Outside, your pup can let off steam in the enclosed garden, which includes a fenced pond and space for al fresco dining (please keep an eye on your pet near the water). Parking available for up to three cars.

Surrounded by unspoilt rural scenery, this property is a dream for dog owners who love exploring. For a change of pace, you could head to the historic city of Lincoln (14.5 miles) for shopping and lunch in a dog-friendly café. If you fancy something different, enjoy a day at Market Rasen Racecourse (8.5 miles), where dogs on leads are permitted on race days. For a really wacky activity, how about a dog tandem skydive at Skydive Hibaldstow (10 miles)?
