An impressive Arts and Crafts country house, this gorgeous Lake District property promises a very special stay. Sleeping four guests and welcoming dogs, the three-bedroom abode nestles in attractive gardens at Grasmere, 3.5 miles from bustling Ambleside. Stroll 300 metres to the famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, to stock up on sweet treats, and 0.5 miles down to Faeryland on the edge of the lake, also named Grasmere. Hire rowing boats and have afternoon tea here. Head another 300 metres from your base to visit Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum, where poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy penned much of their literary work. Venture into Ambleside to shop, dine out and wander less than 1 mile down to the jetty at Waterhead to take a cruise out on vast Windermere. Visit Coniston, 11.5 miles away, where you can follow footpaths and trails with far-reaching views out across Coniston Water.
Climb three wide steps to enter the attractive house via its beautiful, covered entrance porch. Make your way on inside to the spectacular lounge/diner with its remarkable vaulted and beamed ceiling and its lovely wooden floor. Light the open fireplace in the handsome wood-panelled fireplace, then tuck into the cosy bench seating beside it with your book. Alternatively, open the French doors to the garden in here on summer days. Enjoy celebratory feasts at the grand dining table before passing pleasant evenings together in front of the TV or listening to music. The kitchen encompasses everything you will need to help you prepare meals and snacks during your break with your own ingredients. There is also a breakfast bar where you can perch on a stool after making ground coffee in the machine. Beyond the kitchen is a utility room where you can carry out your holiday laundry and find space for your four-legged friend's bed. One of your bedrooms, the inviting twin, is also downstairs, together with the family shower room. A beautiful Arts and Crafts double bedroom, with an unusual wooden trim feature, is up on the first floor, together with its en-suite bathroom.
Take the children and their canine companion out into the sunny enclosed garden to run around, keeping an eye on them at all times. Although the garden is private and enclosed, it is not completely secure. Cook on the BBQ and dine at the picnic table under the blue Cumbrian summer skies. There is private, off-road parking here for three cars.
