Your pampered pup will go barking mad when you book a break at this romantic bolthole for two. Set close to Lake Windermere, the one-bedroom hideaway is a handy base for lakeside strolls and fell rambles, and offers a cosy lounge with a wood burner to return to after energetic days out.

Follow your furry friend through the front door and straight into the lounge/diner, a welcoming space with flagstone flooring and a cosy wood burner. The dining table is set to one side, and once you have eaten this is the perfect spot for cosy, after-dinner chats, an evening with a book or a show streamed on the Smart TV as your hound snores. There is one step up to the compact kitchen, fitted with everything you’ll need for preparing delicious meals, and room on the floor for a dog bowl, too. Also on the ground floor are a handy space for hanging leads and storing walking boots, and a contemporary shower room. Say goodnight to your canine and head upstairs, to find the elegant king-size bedroom, enhanced by rugged beams and bespoke oak furnishings. For morning coffee or evening drinks, step out onto the patio, or wander further (with your pet under close supervision) and explore the wider gardens, which are unenclosed and border fields with sheep. Off-road parking is provided for one car.

The cottage is located with another, larger holiday property in delightful grounds in Bowness, the largest town in the Lake District National Park. The beauty spot of Brant Fell is a 1-mile climb, while the Bowness-on-Windermere Circular takes you on a 5.5-mile circuit with spectacular views. This 2 person cottage is in a terrace with two other slightly larger holiday lets. They are all in what was once an impressive garden featured on gardeners world, though now all except a small section around the house has been left to be taken over by nature. It is abundant with birds and we had sheep passing through now and then. There is a fancy Read morehotel next door, (which uses the kitchen garden) but any noise from that in the morning was much less than the dawn chorus. Inside is very comfortable, clean and modern. As it is agency operated it doesnt have any distinctive personality or things like board games, but milk, tea, coffee, sugar, fresh washing up equipment, some clothes washing liquid for the machine were all provided. Superb base for a romantic getaway Hide

We were the first guests to stay at the newly refurbishied Windy hall cottage in July 2025. The properly was fabulous. It has been fitted out to a very high standard. The cottage itself is located in lovely grounds. We even had deer wander up to our kitchen window. Lake windermere is a short 15 minute down hill walk. Julian (the host) was very frieRead morendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. We hope to return. Hide

Wonderful stay at this Cottage. A hidden gem, and exceeded out expectations- which were already high. The patio area is a delight, and the bed super comfortable. Beautifully fitted and kitted out, we' would highly recommend Windy Hall Cottage.

This is a small cottage for two people which has been very nicely finished. A well thought out design with everything you need for a great stay. Living/dining area was comfortable for sitting in and the small dining table and chairs were by the window for natural light. The light fittings were very nice also. There is a log burner - there were no lRead moreogs - but it is the summer. A smart TV is on the wall above the log burner - I never used it. The kitchen which is off the living/dining area was up one step and although not huge had everything you needed. The shower room and toilet are next to the kitchen. Very smart finish and the shower was fabulous. There's a heated towel rail in here. A set of stairs from the living/dining area takes you up to the bedroom. It's a big room with lots of natural light coming in from two sides and very comfortable bedding. Maybe could do with a bit more hanging space for clothes? Outside there is a small patio area which gets the sun (if you get any) in the morning - couple of chairs and small table. Enjoyed a few coffees here. Just outside the front door there are a another couple of chairs and a table = this area gets the sun in the afternoon into the evening - great spot for a nightcap. Within 3 minutes walk you have Linthwaite House hotel. This has a really nice bar area, outside seating and dining area. We dined in here once and had drinks a couple of times. Food was reasonably priced but drinks were expensive. Also home to Henrock restaurant (we didn't go) - I won't spoil it = look it up. Going into Bowness you'll be spoilt for choice for restaurants, bars, fish and chip shops and ice cream shops. We walked down a few times - if you walk you need to walk at the side of the road for part of the journey as there is no footpath - oh and it's downhill. We took a taxi back - between 4.50 and 5.50. In summary - the property is very nicely finished with everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. I would be happy to recommend it to other people. Hide
