A winding, cottage-style staircase takes you up to the first floor, where a king-size bedroom with beautiful wooden floorboards and a cast-iron bed offers a restful night’s sleep. It’s complemented by a bathroom in which a shower over the bath offers the choice of a refreshing rinse or a long, hot soak. The private garden has a patio and a long area of lawn, ideal for chasing tails – or watching the squirrels. Parking is on-street, subject to availability.

Stroll around the shores of the lake, climb Orrest Head or walk up Queen Adelaide’s Hill, all just 1 mile away. Alternatively, head to the jetty in Bowness, a similar distance away, and join a cruise of the beautiful waters of Lake Windermere - well-behaved canines on leads welcome.
