A large courtyard garden complements the open-plan living space at this stunning cottage. Located between a pair of national parks and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), it’s the perfect base for countryside-loving couples or a family and their four-pawed pal.

With a name that hints at its history, this captivating village retreat combines character and high-end comfort at every turn. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with underfloor heating and a wood burner to ensure toes and paws are warm at any time of year. The lounge area features plush sofas where you can curl up with a book or watch TV as your pet sleeps at your feet. A large dining suite sits at the centre of the space, creating the perfect spot for mealtime gatherings and adventure planning. Behind, the bespoke kitchen invites budding chefs to unleash their culinary creativity. The accommodation is all on one level here. Wander along the corridor and you'll discover two beautiful bedrooms – the first has a king-size bed while the second offers twin zip-and-link beds which, for ultimate versatility, can be made up as a king-size on request. Completing the layout is a contemporary bathroom where you can luxuriate in the double-ended bathtub or start your day with an invigorating shower. To complement the smart styling indoors, the enclosed courtyard garden is a great spot for together time; fire up the gas BBQ and Fido is sure to be on his very best behaviour as he hopes for a tasty treat.

Bishop Monkton is close to both the North Yorkshire and Yorkshire Dales National Parks as well as the Nidderdale AONB and the Howardian Hills AONB, so you won’t be short of scenic hiking routes during your stay here. Just 4 miles away, the cathedral city of Ripon boasts a Thursday market, numerous eateries and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. Nearby, Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden (9 miles) are deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. A similar distance away, the spa town of Harrogate is bursting at the seams with antique shops, cafes, independent boutiques, restaurants and tearooms.
