Property code: OC-LR190

Tucked away in the heart of Ambleside, this beautifully converted former stable gives you and your four-legged adventurer a stylish base for exploring the Lake District on foot. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, it suits couples or small groups travelling with a tail-wagging hiker who wants quick access to fell paths, woodland trails and lakeside walks straight from town.

Approaching the property, the stone exterior and greenery give a strong sense of Lakeland character before stepping inside. A porch provides a handy spot for boots and damp paws after days roaming with your furry rambler. The open lounge/diner sits at the centre of the home, with whitewashed walls and soft seating creating a calm setting for evenings in. A Smart TV adds a touch of modern comfort after long days on the fells. The kitchen sits just off the living area, equipped with everything needed to prepare meals to share at the wooden dining table. A family bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the ground floor. Upstairs, beneath the eaves, are two restful bedrooms: a double room and a flexible super-king that can be arranged as twins on request, alongside a separate WC. Outside, a lawned garden and seating area give you a pleasant spot for morning coffee or an evening drink while your four-pawed explorer potters nearby. Private parking for one car is provided, with additional on-street parking available when space allows.

Ambleside’s highlights are all within easy reach. Stroll 1 mile to Stock Ghyll Force, where the waterfall tumbles through woodland – a favourite stop for curious noses to investigate. Continue into the village to see Bridge House, one of the most photographed historic buildings in the national park. Windermere (4.5 miles) brings together independent shops, pet-friendly cafes and boat trips across the lake. Rydal Mount (2 miles), once home to William Wordsworth, adds another scenic stop surrounded by walking routes (dogs on the lead in the grounds).

Great location and adequately equipped- comfy beds which is very important! Only one small sofa and 2 upright chairs in the lounge so a bit tight for 4 people there but for two people it was perfect.

Fell Set is in is good location and is well equipped for an enjoyable stay. My only minor niggle is that the parking is not quite as promise. There is definitely not enough space for 2 large cars.

Traditional lakes cottage, spotlessly clean in a prime location in Ambleside, minutes walk from the town centre with many walks from the cottage. The cottage is also close to the main bus routes. Well equipped cottage, cosy bedrooms, seating area at the rear and with the gates closed at the front, the grassed area was safe for our dog. We do believRead moree the lounge is big enough to take 2 two seater sofa's rather than the one and two chairs. That would be our only negative if we had been a four person staying. We will be back, it was a beautiful stay. Hide
