This characterful cottage welcomes friends and families – plus two dogs – for adventures in this popular part of the Lake District. The thriving town of Windermere has an array of places to eat and drink and is a great hub from which to plan days out. Walk from the door to Orrest Head, School Knott Tarn and Brant Fell, all within 3.5 miles and offer incredible views. Swimmers can enter the calm waters of Lake Windermere at Millerground, 1 mile away, while cyclists can cross the lake by car ferry from Bowness, 1.5 miles away, to reach Grizedale Forest and its exhilarating woodland trails. All kinds of activities are available in the nearby area, including canoeing, four-wheel off-road driving, archery, sailing, e-bike safaris, and more. If you feel like taking it easy, however, simply join a tranquil steamer cruise of the lake and enjoy some of England's finest scenery.
Set out over three floors, connected by steep, cottage-style stairs, the mid-terrace property is traditionally styled and presented, and has a homely feel throughout. It instantly feels like somewhere you can kick back, relax, and enjoy quality time together. Step up and through the front door, leaving muddy boots in the hall, and enter the beamed lounge, where a wood burner in a stone fireplace creates a warming focal point. Sink into the soft seating and unwind after a day in the fresh air, perhaps streaming a favourite show on the Smart TV. Head through to the dining room, with its farmhouse-style table and chairs, and ornamental fireplace, then into the kitchen (one step down), which is beautifully designed for easy holiday cooking, and includes both a microwave and a dishwasher. A useful WC completes this level. Stairs from the dining room take you down to the lower-ground floor and a pretty twin bedroom, open from the staircase, which has its own TV and ample storage (please note that there is some limited head height at the bottom of the stairs). On the first floor, you'll find a spacious, king-size bedroom to the front of the house, and a further single bedroom to the rear. The elegant family bathroom, also on this floor, features a shower over the bath and a WC.
There is access to a small, open back lane area with seating. For more outside space, don't forget you're just steps away from the heart of Windermere and, of course, in the perfect position for getting out and about in the vast expanse of the Lake District's scenic countryside. If you're planning to bring a car, you can pull up outside the property to unload your belongings, and a parking permit is provided for the WFC car park on Broad Street, 300 metres away (also valid for several other car parks throughout South Lakeland).
