Deep in private woodland in Lincolnshire, this stylish lodge makes a fantastic holiday base for dog-loving couples or families wanting to get away from it all. It’s just 0.5 miles from a welcoming local pub – handy for an easy meal or drink nearby – and 6 from the market town of Horncastle, which has antiques shops, independent stores and dog-friendly cafés.
Arrival to this sweet wooden home feels a little magical, with a Narnia-themed gate and lamppost leading to the property along a winding woodland path. Inside, you’ll have an open-plan living and dining space with timber-clad walls and ceilings, a large corner sofa and a large Smart TV for easy evening entertainment. Prepare easy holiday meals in the glossy white kitchen. For sleeping, the lodge includes a spacious ground-floor double bedroom with woodland views. There’s also a shower room to the rear. The second sleep space is on a bright mezzanine above the living area, accessed via a ladder. It has two single beds and is suited to older children aged 7 and over, who will love the den-like feel of this space. Outside, the large balcony is a great place to put pet meals down, and has plenty of seating, along with a BBQ, for fresh-air dinners. You’ll have private parking for two cars.
Nearby, the Edwardian-era village of Woodhall Spa (12.5 miles) is known for its tree-lined streets and walking routes. Louth (13.5 miles), a historic market town, is another great place to explore, with Georgian streets, food markets. It also gives access to the tail-waggingly good Lincolnshire Wolds, a National Landscape with rolling hills and hidden valleys that your four-legged friend will adore exploring alongside you.
