Alternatively, tuck yourself away in the inviting snug with a book from the shelves, or head into the handsome lounge, where a beamed ceiling and wood burner-effect electric fire set the tone for quiet relaxation: just settle your mutts and stream all your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Visit the Georgian town of Cockermouth, 10 miles away, for shops and places to eat, and head to Keswick, 13.5 miles, for outdoor activities and more enticing walks.
