Wonderfully welcoming and comfortable, this spacious lodge in a lovely rural location truly feels like a home from home. Perfect for groups of up to six people, and welcoming a furry friend, too, it boasts walks from the door and an enclosed lawn where your pup can run, sniff and play.

Warm colours and characterful touches create a country hideaway in which comfort and relaxation are at the fore. Take the steps up to the front door and find an entrance hall with space for coats, boots and canine kit. This leads into a generous, open-plan living area, in which soft seating is gathered around a wood burner and Smart TV. You’ll find plenty of room for a dog bed on the floor, and you can set bowls down in the country-style kitchen. Here, it’s easy to cook up hearty meals for everyone, making the most of the electric oven and gas hob, serving up at the rustic wooden table. Three restful bedrooms branch off from the hallway — a king-size, a double and a twin — each with delightful character. The family bathroom includes a bath for soothing tired muscles and a separate shower for brisk starts to the day. A large raised deck includes furniture for outdoor dining and evenings stargazing around the fire pit, while the lawn is a fun space for your canine pal to explore. Private parking is available for two cars.

The lodge is located around 0.5 miles from Catherton Common Nature Reserve, a wild heathland that’s perfect for rambling and bird spotting, where dogs are allowed on the lead. If you’re feeling energetic, climb to the top of Titterstone Clee Hill, 6 miles away, for superlative views. The market town of Ludlow, a foodie favourite, is just 10 miles away.
