This idyllic Dorset hideaway, a stick’s throw from the pretty village of Thorncombe, is the ultimate romantic retreat perfect for couples wishing to reconnect with the great outdoors with their four-legged friends.

The spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features stunning skylights and sliding patio doors, which create plenty of sunny spots for your pup to snooze in. This light and airy space has been designed with relaxation in mind, featuring contemporary touches that add a touch of elegance. Watch the world go by from the comfort of the plush sofa or dining set before rustling up some tasty treats in the kitchen. When it’s finally time to pause from chasing your tail, freshen up in the sophisticated shower room before retiring to the charming king-size bedroom, which boasts lovely views to wake up to. Sliding doors from the open-plan living space open to a glass-fronted balcony, perfect for al fresco dining. Steps lead down to a lawned and gravelled garden which is fully enclosed, perfect for playful pups to enjoy. There is private parking for two cars available.

The pretty village of Thorncombe (1.5 miles) borders Devon and Somerset, making this an ideal spot to explore the three counties. Take the lead to Beaminster, which boasts dog-friendly pubs and independent shops selling local produce, reachable within 9 miles. Answer the call of the coast at Charmouth Beach (seasonal restrictions apply), 8 miles away. From Charmouth Beach, join the South West Coast Path; you’ll find plenty of exciting new smells for your pup to enjoy along the route eastwards to Golden Cap, the highest point on this dramatic coastline. Lyme Regis, with its famous fossil-rich coastline and tail-wagging walks, can be reached within 8 miles.

The lodge was lovely. The view was amazing. It had everything we needed for a week with basics all provided. Close to other places of interest and there were lovely walks from the front door.

A beautiful hidden gem of a lodge with a super outside space for humans and four legged friends. The perfect retreat if you want to escape from it all. Nikki was a great host, nothing was too much trouble and the scones and fresh eggs were a kind and generous touch.

The setting was delightful and very quiet. The enclosed garden for the dogs was very helpful. The lodge itself was very comfortable and the views superb.

Absolutely delightful, Nikki was welcoming and helpful especially with gifts of eggs and fresh cream tea . I had a perfect escape .

We had a lovely, warm welcome from Nikki who showed us around the property and made us feel relaxed straight away. The property was immaculate and had everything that we needed for our stay. We really appreciated the home made scones and prosecco. The views of the surrounding area were wonderful and the setting was so peaceful. Our two dogs were maRead morede to feel welcome and loved exploring the enclosed garden. The underfloor heating and cosy furnishings made the property the perfect place to snuggle up after escaping the rainy weather. We would definitely stay here again. Hide
